Does anybody else's 9300 spin its optical drive nonstop while on battery? It doesn't do this on AC. I have to open the drive to stop it and I'm sure I'm taking a hit on battery life. I'm using the AO5 bios but I think it did this with the AO4 bios too. (There has to be a disk in the drive for it to do it, of course.)

sure it does it with every disk? is it a disk that the syatem is unable to read?
stiil, that doesn't explain the battery/AC thing......install cd-drive drivers agin....these sony drives on 9300 act real strange, going by the reports, though mine is all well so far! touch wood.

Yeah, any disc. Music and Data and Video. And it works fine in all other respects.

Actually, I read this and immediately noticed a loud humming noice. I took Battlefield 2 out and realized that it was indeed the drive that was making the noises. I usually wear headphones, so I never really noticed it before.
