Hey people, as you can see in my signature, Ionly have a Cd-Rw Optical Drive. the fact that I don't have a Dvd-RW drive is a bit of a problem when it comes to backing up big files like a huge collection of mp3's, or burning home videos and things. For this reason i want a new drive. Preferably an Internal one, the problem is, I can't find one anywhere on the internet. Do manafacturers still produce drives for the 8100/8200?

Or would it be better just to buy an external drive? If there are still any internal drives, could anyone tell me how they are and where to get them from?

Any feedback would be appreciated, Mayz

search ebay. Although I would probably just got with an external since it seems like it would be cheaper, logically at least.

...you may think I was kinda stupid posting this thread SG...obviously external is the logical option but I think the whole point of a laptop is to have everything in one device, everything at your fingertips. I don't want to buy off ebay, don't trust the site. I think I'll wait till Blu-Ray and Hd-DVD Rw drives come out and then invest in a new external

No i don't think you are stupid. I was just suggesting the cheapest, least expensive option.

If you really want to spend alot of money, then call Dell's Spare Parts. They should have drives to fit it.

I would recommend an External USB 2.0 Drive, the best way. You have to keep making DVD's and then throw them. The external drives go all the way with no problems.

I have an 80GB External Drive, and my ipod 30GB which both act as hard drives :).

I thought Ipods were not recognised in Windows explorer as a drive? How could you use one as a external drive for files? Yeah....external I think...solved
