    Hi,

Just wondering if any of the E-series optical drives (Latitude E6400/E6500, Precision M2400/M4400 would fit the Inspiron 17 or Studio 17?

    Thx!

    Probably not and no.

The Studio 17s have been using slot-load drives since their inception and among other things, a large chunk of the chassis would have to be cut away before it could accept conventional optical drives. The Inspiron 17s still use tray-load drives, but I doubt these drives are the low-height devices shipping with the Latitudes and Precisions.
