I have a compaq optical cradle mouse (cpq600id)> Absolutely no success with inspiron Installed drivers, rebooted, nada. Should be that simple, it uses usb port, installed drivers, rebooted, plugged in, uninstalled/reinstalled, getting nothing.
Has anyone else used remote optical (wireless) mouse with this?
Thanks

I've used four different wireless mice with it. A Microsoft Notebook, a Logitech V500, a Logitech MX1000 and a Kensington. I don't like installing mouse drivers...have had too many bad experience with bad driver behaviour. I just go with the default Windows mouse drivers.

Wondering why it doesn't work then? I have tried both windows drivers and the ones from the cd. One wireless usb optical, the other Kensington mouse. Neither work, although I have had troubles with Kensington in past. In system (c panel) it still shows the other mouse (the onboard display I guess). Are there any tweaks or things you must do after plugging it in to usb?
Thank you -
Also.. as an addendum to previous message.
1) Compaq cpq600id.
2) Plugged into usb on different computer. I get "one of the usb devices attached to computer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it." This is plugged into powered usb 2.0 hub.
3) It shows in generic usb hub "unknown device:
4) Now to plug directly into computer usb directly. (dimension 8250)
5) Get nothing back.
6) Same error when putting to a different open slot in usb 2.0 hub, by the way all other devices in this hub work.
7) Will install software and post if anything different occurs.
