So I'm not sure about what Creative is referring to when they say their X-Fi card for the XPS1530 has an "optical out" because they're saying it's a "shared" 1/8 inch jack with the line out/headphone jack. WTF? Optical out as I know it emits a beam of light and is a different connector than the 1/8 jack. I don't want to order this thing and then not be able to plug my fiber optic cable into it. Anyone who has this unit please let me know.

My iRiver H120 integrates a headphone out and an optical out, so it is definitely possible.

Edit: And yes, you need a different cable. The one that you connect your HDTV to receiver is too big.

Just of audio products use mini-jack and optical together. You just need the adapter.

The optical portion is further in so your standard headphone plug doesn't touch it.

Look into the jack and you'll see a red light (or you will if you have it), but as mentioned above, you'll need a mini toslink cable.
