Gettin an e1505 soon and wanted to know how to get the maximum performance out of it. Already going to reformat the hard drive and do most/all of the stuff in the optimize notebook thread. Also goin to dl the latest drivers from dell.com and not use the cd if I can. I've heard about "omega" drivers for the x1400 increasing performance, but have no idea what they are/where to get them. Anyone got any links etc? Anything else I can do besides what's listed above?

You've pretty much got the process down pat. If you do a search for the omega drivers on the e1505, there seems to be a consensus that they don't improve performance very much, if at all.
There are quite a few topics about the drivers, just type "omega" and "e1505" into the search terms. -
omega drivers are good for a x1400 but in another thread someone tell me about this drivers and are a little bit better.

I dont know if your a geek like me...but they are alot of tweaks and modifications that you can do to make XP run faster like disable useless services, configuring the index service on the hard drive for better read/write speeds... Might be a hard for a non geek

If I'm not a geek, I don't know who is. I know how to disable unecessary services, just don't know which ones are unecessary. However, when it comes to more complicated stuff like ram timings and editing programs; i'm clueless...
-
I know how that is. I began the adventure of disabling services when I got my i6000 a few months ago. You can also disable start up programs. The best thing to do is just google the name of the process to see if it is necessary or not. That is what I typically do. Also, you may want to keep system restore on when you do it. One time I disabled a service that I needed, and I had turned system restore off, had to reinstall windows, not fun lol! So google and disable, have fun! By the way, out of professional curiosity, do you have a Supra? Also, what part of Jersey are you from. I lived in both North Brunswick and Mount Laurel for a period of about 10 years combined.

To tweak my XP, i used http://www.theeldergeek.com/services_guide.htm and disabled the services it said that wasn't needed.
I also used the following programs to tweak:
Bootvis
CableNut
****Cleaner
EasyCleaner
jv16 PowerTools
MRU-Blaster
NTREGOPT
RegCleaner
Registry First AID
SpeedXP
TweakXP
Good Luck.
