I've just placed my order for the m1530 and very excited to get it, these boards have helped me a great deal, never done so much research on computers before heh. Curious to know what are some of the first things I should do to make the laptop run its best. Some tidbits i've absorbed:

-Uninstall bloatware (I'll probably just do this through add/remove hardware)

-Update graphics driver (What's the best one currently for the 8600 nvidia? And will updating the driver from whatever the default is increase performance noticeably?)

    -Tweak windows vista ( http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=3945)

Anything else you guys can recommend? Thanks!

Sounds like you're ready to get started ;)

I think that's about it, you know what you need to already when you receive your new notebook.

I think you've already found out that you can find a number if different drivers for you 8600GT on laptopvideotogo.com. Witch one's the best for you depends a little on what games you play, but they have a great forum about that on laptopvideotogo also, i'd recommend you search there and benefit from other people there experiences.

It's hard to see how much performance you'll gain, that would totally depend on what drivers it comes with. My FZ went from 1425 to 1895 points in 3DMark06 just by updating my video drivers. That's a significant percentage i'd say, even though it's just a benchmark.

Goodluck, i hope your lappie will arrive soon!
