Ok, I just figured out that the college that I will be going to has a partnership with Dell so that I can get a discount. I went to configure the XPS M1530 the way I have been doing, but when I get to the screen option, there is only one choice, a resolution of 1280x800. When I have set up my desired config before there was 3 configs with the one I picked, 1680x1050. Anyone know why this is?

No but I would try ordering on the phone. The screen options are reletivly new so they might just not have updated the discount site.

I tried, i called dell over the phone and tried to have them change the screen. The guy said he couldn't do it because that option isn't available for people who buy with the college discount.

That Rep was wrong. It is available to everyone. You just need the item codes to give them over the phone. See my post here:

Hey thanks seeingwhite. I did use the item numbers but that was just a prelim. I talked to the dell CSR for like an hour. It was because he must be new and didn't know exactly how to do things, but he was really patient and used a three way conference not only to cancel my previous order but also to sort out problems with my DPA and then placed the order. He forgot the USB premium mouse from dell, but I don't think thats too much of a problem. To be honest, im glad i got someone so honest and patient. If any of you guys want him call the dell site and dial extension 7234757 and his name is Emil. I don't generally recommend people or anything but he was extremely helpful and one of the best reps i have dealt with.

Anyways thanks again seeingwhite, my order is slightly delay(from the 11 to 17 for ship date) but i don't mind. The screen is worth it.
