This is my first time ordering a Dell, so I apologize if this is covered somewhere.

I ordered a Mini 9 Monday afternoon, and received an email which said that my order had been acknowledged, gave me a purchase ID, and said I would receive more information shortly. However, almost 48 hours later, I haven't gotten anything else. When I put my purchase ID into the online status, It returns a 500-server error, and the phone status has no record of the order, but it also says it could take up to 24 hours to show up. Also, my credit card has not been charged yet.

Is it normal to sit at "order acknowledged" for this long. I'm thinking the order probably disappeared, but it would just be my luck, if I order again, I'll end up with 2.

Hey, wait until Dell opens for business tomorrow, and call and ask for a status update! Also be sure to advise what happened with your online order status, etc!! :) (They may have had troubles with the site, and that is why you rec'd that error message).....

Your credit card won't be charged until its going to be shipped...They may take a pre-authorization on your CC though, to be sure the funds are are available. ;)

    Good luck!

    Cin ;) :)

Sometimes it takes a day or two to actually show up.. At least here, when I ordered, I could see *any* information at all only after ~ two days... So don't worry...

In any case, I think they don't process your order until the payment has been made and the credit card has been charged (AFAIK, thats the way it works at least here and I would guess it must be kinda the same everywhere else too... else I'd probably be upset with Dell here :D because they said my order didn't show up on-line since the payment was not completed, which I know was not true.. they were just telling some random stories.. LOL.. :D anyways).

So the credit card will be charged, and once its charged and the payment has been confirmed, they will start the manufacturing / production process... So there.. Don't worry.. just call them up and speak with someone in person on the phone and probably they could dig deep to get your information :) and clarify about the website / online situation too :) Cheers and good luck.

I called and they could not find any record of my order, just put through another order, and it went right through.

    Now the wait begins...

    ESD is 10/9

I really don't think I'm meant to have a netbook. Here is how this all went down...

Monday: Decide to order the Dell

    Tuesday: Stuck in Dell limbo

Wed: Dell says can't find order, so I decide to look around a bit more. Decide to try Acer Aspire One. I have a Microcenter near and according to their website, they have them in stock. So I do an in-store pickup order and patiently (or not so patiently) wait for an email saying that it is ready to pick up. Afternoon comes and goes, and I finally call them to see what is going on. At first, THEY COULDN'T FIND MY ORDER EITHER!!! Seriously, what is it with me and orders? Apparently, they really didn't have them in stock, so the order was canceled. Of course, there was no email or anything to let me know this.

Today: Re-order Dell. And of course, just to taunt me, the 2GB stick of RAM, 16GB SDHC card and external DVD writer I ordered on Monday to compliment the Dell arrived today from NewEgg.

    And one more twist...

I noticed that my credit card had two pending charges from Dell. I thought maybe it was something wrong with the credit card processing, and that when the charge went final, one would go away.

Well when I logged onto my Dell account to check my status, sure enough, there are two orders. Both are dated 9/18 (the first order that Dell told me was canceled was placed on 9/15.)

At least the first one is already to boxing

Ooish...sorry for the *luck* you have been having ...At least the one is in the boxing stage..a very good thing, indeed ;) :)

Call Dell, and ask them when one of the charges is going to drop...I'm wondering if it will drop when you are actually charged for the one being shipped?? You should also have acknowledgement that the other order was cancelled..be sure to get confirmation of that! ;)
