Order Shipped!!!!

I just want to share my enthusiasm as my Vostro 1500 order has shipped! I ordered on 1/30 and the order shipped today! I guess they do work on Sundays even.

It says shipped to carrier, what does that mean and how long does that take? I have the free 3-5 day shipping and it says my expected delivery date is 2/6 which is Wednesday! That is quick!

I also ordered a Blue Tooth mouse from Dell last week. If that order is any indication in relation to where I live, that shipment came the next day after it shipped! Or it might have been the 2nd day because I think I just got the shipment confirmation email the next day.

Either way, I am expecting my notebook no later than Wednesday, but possibly even Tuesday! I must say I am impressed with Dell's process of getting my notebook built and shipped. This is my first experience with them as far as ordering a computer system goes. I have only bought a monitor from them in the past. I hope my WSXGA+ screen isn't grainy!!

 

CONGRATS! I ordered an M1530 the same day as you and maybe just maybe.....it will be on the same pallet waiting to go out later tonight or on a different pallet but shipping out tonight. Probably not, but there is always hope I suppose. Anyways keep us updated and enjoy your lapper!

Nizzy, thank you very much! I also appreciate your guide to installing the RAM, since I have 2gb on order right now. I build desktops, so I'm assuming installing the RAM will be fairly easy, but I love the tutorial showing where the bays are.

Also, do you know how easy it would be to replace the hard drive? I was thinking of going from the 5400 drive to a 7200. Do you think it's worth the hassle of money? Will the speed difference be that large? Being on a desktop my whole life, I'm not used to a 5400 drive. Thanks!

 

Bowlerguy, I remember you telling me that you ordered on the same day. I really hope yours ships soon! Even the Dell Order Status web page says it shipped and has an expected delivery date as 2/6.

I ordered mine on last Monday, so I also hope I will receive mine soon. Unfortunately for me, I have been without a functional personal computer for 2 weeks now. By the estimated time of arrival, it would have been nearly 3 weeks. My last computer recently broke and could not be fixed, forcing me to make a purchase, but if I had to purchase, I may as well get something a lot better- so I said to myself long before.
(i honestly prefer if my old one was simply repaired... but its just not "possible").

 

Anyone know what current part delays/backorders dell has going that could be holding my order up? Dell gets shipments of supplies every 2 hours and they exactly match what their current demand requires so I don't know why it would really take any extra time.

 

Mine, too! The phone service said it was in transit to the carrier but I don't have a tracking number yet. I got the 2nd day mail so I hope that means I'll get it by Thursday.

Mine was shipped on the 2nd, but for some reason it took a route south.. its in Georgia or traveling from Georgia right now... -.-
why the hell did they drive south to Georgia when they could have gone east directly to my state? ^^; i bet their trying it make it 3-5 days on purpose

well, maybe late tonight, maybe tomorrow... or their ETA date of wednesday... still waiting till then.

I just got my tracking number late this afternoon! The only status I have from DHL is "Shipment Acknowledged". Does that mean that the box is physically at DHL already, or does that just mean they received data that it's coming?

Because if the box is physically at DHL, I might get mine as early as tomorrow since it is in Nevada and I am in California. I would think that they can get it to California by tonight or early tomorrow morning, then put it on a truck for delivery. If not, for sure I will be getting it on Wednesday!

 

I am happy to report that DHL had an expected delivery date for 2/6, but this morning it is out for delivery!! I will be getting my lappy today! Bowlerguy, what is your status?

Mine has still been in "Shipping Acknowledged" mode for more than 20 hours with absolutely no other update and I too have no clue what this is supposed to mean. My expected arrival is supposed to be 2/6, but this lack of change is kinda disheartening. Anyone know what the deal could be?

 

It means that Dell is giving them the information for the package and that DHL is picking it up.

 

I just walked in the door with it right now!! I am about to open it up and fire it up! I will report back later.

Right on WizeGuy!!!! Hey, how long was your laptop in the boxing stage?

 

My laptop boxing for about 2 days I think, but it was on a weekend. Next thing I knew it shipped and I got it at my door 2 days later. I think you should get yours real soon!

Also, I believe I got an LG screen to boot on my WSXGA+! It is device ID LPL300 or something like that. I have a thread about that in the regular Dell forum.

 

All this talk about getting your notebooks is making me anxious for mine! I only ordered it on the 3rd... but still.

EDIT: Stupid campus post office was closed! DHL attempted delivery but obviously couldn't leave it. I called DHL and told them I wanted to come pick it up and they said they would call back in hour with the time and place I could do that. Does anyone have any experience with DHL actually calling when they say they will? I really don't want to have to wait until to tommorow to get the computer, especially since it's sooo close.

How long does it take to get a tracking number? Also for that matter, do Canadians get tracking numbers? This notebook has been an obsession for me for the last week.
