Order Status: Is it "frozen"?

I ordered my Dell Inspiron 1520 on July 3rd. I've been checking it's status since then. On July 10th the status changed to "2" (Preproduction, or something like that) out of 5 stages. Since then I haven't seen any updates to my order status.
Are you other people experiencing similar things or is this just me? My shipment date is scheduled to be the 7.8. (August 7th), which is ridiculously far from now. Even my Dell contact told me that must be wrong...
I need my laptop by next week, and every time I called dell so far they assured me I'd get my laptop by the 20th. Seems like bull to me...

 

Did you pay with your dell prefferred account card?? If so, then chances are you need to call their verification department because the oder was likely flagged....This just happened to me....but my verification did not go through as I have a different phone number and address than I had when I signed up with the card...so I had to reorder...they were reall a**holes about it all too.

my order on 1520 was placed on 7/9 and i received it today (7/16). was i too lucky?

 

hehe Not as lucky as me..I reordered 7/11 and it should be here today

 

Lucky indeed; I ordered mine on the 11th and it's still in production, scheduled to ship 25th.

 

I ordered on the 7th, and the expected shipping date is the 25th.

18 days. Why such a difference between orders?

I ordered the 1680x1050 + screen, which isnt supposed to take as long as the 1440x900 screen.

Stromchasr - you got a good deal it looks like. Why didnt you opt for the 7200RPM drive? and did you get any warranty?

 

im in the uk but my order went from pre-production to dispatched in one "step". ordered 6th july, pre production on 7th july, dispatched on 13th, arriving tomorrow.

 

I'm on a strict budget...I only got the 1 yr included warranty.

 

I ordered mine on July 9th and the expected delivery date is july 27th Today i chat with one of the customer care agent and he said it has been advanced to 25th. But when he mentioned its the shipping date (which effectively puts my delivery date on 27th lol)................... These wonderful customer care ppl....... . Its been stayin on "in production" status from july 11th.

 

I did not use any account card (haven't heard about it either!)...
I hope the status changes by tomorrow morning. (To deployed!)
..Then again: I think such a status change could be considered "dreaming" only...

I am feeling cheated: I ordered BEFORE some of you guys, yet ALL of you get your laptops shipped earlier! I did not opt for a "special" configuration either... The standard...
