So.... got a call from the delivery service for Dell saying that the order will come in on around 2 weeks later than expected.....

Is ok for me to ask Dell for a small discount for the wait? Or is this really not considered a "wait" and will I just be annoying everybody?

Sorry if this is an annoying thread..... :D

Many orders may be delayed coming from Dell. Probelm is, and Dell is not telling customers this, that many of their "vendors" for components on motherboards, memory, etc are now working exclusively for HP. Dell is having a hard time procuring additional vendors as many are gun shy about working with Dell due to recent financial woes with the SEC in the US.

Best bet... sit back and get comfy because 2 weeks is about the norm for delays now, and some people are sitting at a few months on certain systems.

Ordered a Dell XPS m1730. It was expected to arrive on the 30th of Oct, but has now moved to mid November.

If I had only a 13 day DELay, I'd be ecstatic.

I understand the whole problem with Dell not being able to get suppliers, hence the cause of delays, but for nasty customer service reps who make you promises of calling you back and sorting out such "incentives" for you, I have only deep frustration.

Honestly, I think if you really aren't satisfied, just ask!
It won't hurt and you know what, regardless of whether or not they have the parts in, you are clearly paying good money for their products and if you expect better- ask for more.

    ---Based on personal experience! :)

M1730 with all the options available at the time of order, including the 64GB SSD and 200GB HDD combo.

    Ordered October 6, 2007
    ESD October 29, 2007
    1st delay ESD November 5, 2007
    2nd delay ESD December 3, 2007

What are they waiting on? This is ridiculous!

Update: Order was cancelled by system today and I had to re-order. Fortunately, the price was lower for the same options and the esd is now 11/21/2007! Go figure!
