My desktop broke down on me so I ordered a 1525 from dell.ca on 1/12 and it has an estimated delivery date of 1/28...which I thought was a little excessive. Anyways, it showed order processing and pre-production completed within the first two days and it has been "in production" with a date of 1/14 for the last 10 days!

I called CS yesterday and they were not very helpful at all. They had no idea why it was delayed for so long. Then they said its still in pre-production and waiting for a part...but they had no idea what the part was. This is contradicting what it says online as it says "in production." I'm sure this will not be delivered let alone be shipped by 1/28.

There has been no communication from Dell about any delays or issues but I'm almost sure my laptop will not be delivered or shipped on 1/28. If this does not ship by 1/28, would it be fair to call Dell and demand some discounts/extra warranty??? I definately don't want to cancel my order at this point because I managed to order the 1440x900 screen while it was available.

I'm not sure how dell works now but I did the same "mistake" this summer. I ordered a laptop from them for my brother, even called them to make sure it would have no delays since I was planning to bring it along with me and already had planned the trip. Two days or so after the screen I chose was not available on dell site and the computer took more than one month to ship. I would guess that there is high demand on those screens and their stock was 0. Hope you're luckier than I was with the delay but I bet is that screen that delays your order.

I am not sure if you would be eligible for a discount but it's worth a try. You will need to say something like "I missed an important trip because the laptop was a priority during it" and then they might give in.

I called dell CS again and this time the rep was able to give me more information. She said its in the final stage of production and will ship within 2-3 business days. I hope this wait is worth it for the 1440x900 screen.

I am shocked! I checked the order status for about the 100th time last night and instead of "in production" again, it said shipped :) . I guess they did manage to ship before the expected delivery date after all. I was starting to consider cancelling and looking at HPs and Sony VAIOs instead.

Anyways, I ordered on 1/12, it was in production from 1/14 to 1/25 and is now shipped

I just checked the service service tag using instructions here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=212898 and it shows:

1 RU679 MODULE..., LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY..., 15.4WXGA+, TLF, LGP, SPEA...
    1 KR515 LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY..., 15.4WXGA+, TLF, LGP, V2

I think this means LG screen :D , and 1440x900...I wonder how many were able to get this resolution during the short time it was available
