I ordered my xps m1530 today after the 669 went to the 594. I mentioned this to him and he said that he recieved an email that said tomorrow that deal would be gone as well. I dont know if this will be replaced with anything else but as far as he said, the window to get a good deal on this laptop is quickly closing. Again, i dont know this as complete fact, but that is what the rep informed me of.

It says on the "Offer Details" tab that the deal will end January 31.

Normally I would say it was just the sales rep wanting scare you into buying right now! But with the way Dell changes their pricing....I would beleive it!

That sounds dirty saying a deal is going to be gone tomorrow to make a sale. Then again saying an offer is good until 1/31/08 and then changing it on the 8th is equally dirty.

I would think there would be some law against it.

It's probably in their fine print. Like most companies they have the right to pull any deal at any time. However, this is Dell, and they have great reps. I am sure if you call them and tell them that the website said "until 1/31", they would honor it over the phone.

well, we get to see what happens tomorrow, don't we? It kind of looks like that kind of deal they can adjust whenever they want. It's not a coupon. Not sure how the "offer good until..." part fits in with them changing it. I'm pretty sure if you take a screen shot of the deal details along with the date you could hold them to it.

Well, i mentioned that it said the 669 was good till the 31st in trying to get some more off, but he said he couldnt give me anything else except for free next day shipping. So there was no success there.

I ordered mine today too... and my rep said the SAME THING!! That even the $594 deal would be gone in a day or two.
I said... "but the deal said it would expire on the 31st!!!
He said... "all I know is I got an email that told me."

At that time I thought he was just trying to get me to make an order right away.

Was your rep's name Ted by chance?

Well... then it sounds like both Ted and David telling the same story.... that the $594 is going to expire in the next day or so.

I really hope that there will be some awesome deal when this one expires. Especially for those of you who want this laptop but just weren't quite ready to order.

But you know, if the original deal was -$594 it would still be pretty nice. And who knows, maybe you can still haggle it further.

I wonder if Dell just tried to sour the deal a little bit.... to get the last stragglers to buy. Maybe they were losing too much on it?
There must be some insider Dell guy who blogs about this stuff.

I wonder if they go by random names? lol. Yeah, i'm not sure about their deals. i think they alternate between cash off the price and free hardware upgrades. here it alternates every two weeks with some gaps that have no sales.

I've ordered 3 notebooks from dell, i find it's a good idea to research what you want and are willing to pay and just make up your mind and order it. haggling is good and be beneficial, but worrying about ordering now or later is usually a losing battle. Deals come and go, a better deal will always come at some point. it's just the way it goes. you just have to decide what you want and go for it.

    good luck.

I think maybe the offer was just really good and they got a lot of orders for the xps 1530. Maybe they had a quota of how many they could sell with the discount and met the quota sooner than expected.

The offer did say something like until 1/31/08 or until supplies last.

Ok i ordered my 1530 on dec 29th. I asked them not to put the order through until january 1st and they said that they could not garauntee pricing and it is subject to change without any notice. Doesn't matter if it says expires jan 31st. Personally i think this is not cool but nothing you can do about it. my guess is they were yanking yer chanin(all dell reps will pressure you to BUY NOW if you are hesitant by threatening a price increase or that a sale might end very soon.)

If this really is true, I pray that it isn't the same for the M1330. I'm just about ready to get it...

The rumors about the deal ending probably got started by some Dell Rep incognito on this forum. :)
