I had a lot of issues with my studio 1535. I contacted dell this weekend and requested a computer replacement. They agreed to do so.

The terms of the replacement were that they do not do downgrades. They said that the replacement computer will be composed of parts that they have in stock. My question is, since they are no longer selling the studio 1535 on their website, will I receive the redesigned studio?

For example, will by screen size be 15.6 inches instead of the original 15.4 inches?
My processor, the T8100, is no longer listed on their website. Will I receive the P8600 instead?
My video card, the ATI mobility 3450, is also no longer sold on their website. Will this mean I will receive the 256MB HD 4570?

These are the closest options that they have available to my original configuration. And since they don't do downgrades, it makes sense that the replacement will use these parts and be the redesigned studio 15.

Or am I wrong here and do I have my hopes to high? It sure would be a nice upgrade.

Hopes are too high; they will have parts and complete Studio 1535s still in their stocks, regardless of whether they still sell them on their website. You typically only get a different model if you've had lots of problems with the one you've got or it's a really old model.

I got my 1555 as a replacement for my old 1535. Replacement systems are refurbished, which means you may still receive a Studio 1535, 1536, or 1537 from the Outlet. However, there's really no way to be certain, unfortunately.

Not all replacements are refurbs. I got a replacement for my Inspiron 6400 and got a Studio 1555... My case may be a bit special... but whatever... still got a nice upgrade... T2400 to T6600, X1400 to HD 4570, 1gb to 3gb ram... etc... list goes on. again.. because they dont downgrade... make sure they dont screw you over though... took me a long time to get them to realize I had a WSXGA+ screen which is NOT equivalent to a 720p... haha
