    Hi,

New to the forum, I just ordered the Dell 1520 today. I found their customer service very well, the person I was talking to spoke English fluently, so that was a hassle free call. Here is the specs I ordered.

    -Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5450 (1.66GHz/ 667 FSB/ 2MB Cache)
    -Genuine Windows Vista™ Home Premium
    -2GB (2 X 1024MB) 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM
    -160GB SATA Hard Drive 5200RPM
-15.4" Widescreen WXGA+ (1440x900) Display with Truelife JET BLACK + Webcam
    -2 Years CompleteCover Warranty
    -NVIDIA(R) GeForce(TM) Go 8600M GT with 256MB DDR2
    -90W Primary AC Adapter (110V/220V)
-6-cell 53Whr Lithium Ion Primary Battery
    -Targus carry case

And all the other small stuff..

Got it for $2,000NZD which is roughly $1570USD.
Do you reckon that is a good deal? Keep in mind that New Zealand should be a little more expensive than US.

Oh and mine is coming July 16th.

Not to ruin your day or anything, but I also have a Dell and their customer service is outsourced in India. It sucks, I know.

Just use the Live Chat support, and you'll be fine.

The person I was speaking to wasn't Indian. She was Chinese, and didn't really have an accent so it was easy to understand her. Anyway, what do you think of that setup? good price?

Should I have gone for the T7100? Will the current processor handle new games well?

there are much bigger bottlenecks in a system than a processor. i was worryed about the same thing when buying mine.

Your much more likely to run out of graphical power before processing power.

Processors these days are overpowered compared to the rest of the system.

Ah I see, thanks for your reply. Well I can't get a better graphics card than GeForce Go 8600M GT with 256MB for the 1520 right?

Oh man, you got ripped off.
I bought mine today, C2D 2.0 Ghz processor, 2GB ram, bluetooth, webcam, 8600 GT, probably all the same specs as you except the processor is better...
I got it for $1250... But I live in America and I used a coupon...

No actually I didn't get ripped off compared to NZ prices. NZ is more expensive than USA, we can't use coupons here and the tax is higher. NZ is lucky compared to UK i configured the same laptop I got in the UK website and it came up as 1200 pounds which is around $3100 NZD.

I did I talked to the lady she gave me a $50 discount. Seriously you can't get it cheaper here in NZ. You guys are lucky in the US. BTW, what's the percentage tax you pay for goods and services?
