    Hello all,
I customized a Dell Studio 15 (1555) and ordered it on 7/3/09, the Estimated Delivery Date is 7/27/09. I hope I get it sooner though ;)

Anyways, I have a few questions I hope someone wouldn't mind answering for me.

First of all, from the website my Order Status is 'In Production', and when I call the 800 number, it tells me the order is being processed. I am wondering whether or not the automated phone system still tells you the status stages.

    I ordered my system with:
but on my list of items from my order I also see:
    Wouldn't that be an issue?

I'm not sure if anyone here is familiar with the Government fees you get charged with, but I was charged $32, instead of $16. On the link I provided it states
but I was charged $32, as if I bought something with 2 monitors. Could this be because I chose the following item?
On the list of items it lists this item twice.
Which then leads to my next question. What is the difference between the Edge-to-Edge display and a standard? Why does choosing this option yield an additional $16 fee?

Finally, does anyone know whether the Studio 15s still get delayed?
I ordered mine with the $599 model, upgraded parts that brought the price up to $1184 so I could use the coupon code which is a discount of 25% if the upgrades were $550 or more.
My system ended up costing a total of $997.7 = $888($1184-25%) + 8.75% Tax + $32 fee. Anyways the code is 'T?JHXNQQC0SDWW' and it expires on August 1st if anyone is interested.

Not sure why they'd include the 32-bit version. There's a 64-bit version available for download on the Dell Support site.

Hey there, Online Status vs. Automated Dial..will usually never be in sync.. :(

I would trust Automated Dial vs. Online...Best thing would be, tomorrow call and ask a Rep where specifically it is in Production. And, I always suggest you get the Contact Info' of the Rep/and Case number emailed to you (your convo' backup).

Also, the ESD is usually over estimated...Protects Dell in case there are any prob's on the Production Line/Part Delays, etc.

Most usually ship before the ESD.. ;)

    Cin ;) :)

Thank you for your responses. If they have it online then I'm not going to worry about it. Thanks Cin, I'll do that tomorrow. I'll also try to ask about the $32 fee.

So then all I'll need to know is what is the difference between a standard screen and an Edge to Edge screen? I tried to google a bit and it seems like one is just "glossier"?

The edge to edge display is the same as the regular, but with the entire thing (the display itself and the surrounding bezel) covered in one glass panel.

Thanks Mastershroom for that info :)

Anyways, I contacted Dell Support. They told me it was "In Production" and no word on what stage :(

But they also said I was unusually charged twice for the State Environmental Fee and now I am waiting for a manager to see what they could do about it. I talked to them via chat because the lady from across the world had no idea what I was talking about. Then the chat person gave me an 800 number to call, which I did. Then I was basically being transferred back and forth between people on the phone lines and the last person apparently hung up. Bleh, I guess I'll forget the $16.
