Hey guys I have ordered for the Dell Studio 15 laptop 3days back and here is my configuration

    Studio 1537, Intel Core 2 Duo P8600, 2.4GHz, 1066Mhz, 3M L2 Cache
    Graphite Grey with Black Trim
    4GB, DDR2, 800MHz 2 Dimm
    Back-lit Keyboard
256MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3450
250G 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive Free Fall Sensor

First day I was in the Order Processing stage and within a day i was moved to Pre Production Stage. Yesterday when I checked the order status in the recent order status table it is displaying i am in pre production stage and when click on my order number, it displayed that I am In Production Stage

I am bit confused now as which stage I am actually in? What is the average time it will take to ship my laptop from this stage? I am living in Augusta,Georgia.

    Patience is a virtue.

I'm afraid it doesn't really matter what the average time is right now; all it takes is for one single component to be out of stock at any of their suppliers and yours will be delayed. For example, one chap on here ordered his machine, almost exact same spec but a few hours before me. He got his laptop a full week and a half ahead of me - because he took the last of the coloured lids; I had to wait for more to be delivered / produced.

Hopefully though you will not have to wait too long; the suspense is horrible ;o)

    Thanks for reply.. :)

Do you you have any idea why the dell website is showing two different status for my same laptop? On my main account page it is showing I am in "Pre production" and when i am in order status page it is showing "In Production" stage. Just curious what's the difference between two!

If you really would like that cleared up, I would definitely try to contact a Dell representative over the phone to know where it is exactly. The rep will know the correct status.

Pre Production - Gathering supplies and stuff to build your laptop
In Production - They are currently building your laptop

    Good luck.

That is rather odd - you'd have thought that both pages update from the same database? It could be something daft - but if you are really concerned then try going onto their live chat and speak to someone - I'm sure they'll be able to help.

Word to the wise though; don't look every day, or worse every few hours. It will crush you - it nearly did me :)

Good luck with that; I know I was pacing up and down more than when I was about to become a father! Well OK, not quite; but nearly.

Waiting for a laptop obviously makes one much more anxious than waiting for a child, though the "production" and particularly the "pre production" time for a child can be pretty bad.

But "ordering" a child tends to be more fun ;)
