Ordered Vostro 1500 8/25/07 (weekend I know) - How long before expected shipment?

I placed an order for the Vostro 1500 this weekend. None of the options I selected said "May delay your order". As of today (8/27) the "expected ship date" is still 1/1/0001.

How long before they typically update this screen?

Also, what is the typical wait time before shipment if there is no delay for a particular component?

It really do depends on your options, processors, graphics card, web cam etc. I have made a order on a vostro 1400 (see my sig) with nothing saying "May delay your order" and my EDD is 10th of september while people ordered a vostro without T7100 + processor and web cam getting it within a week

 

does it say 1/1/0001 on the phone or is that listed in your confirmation email/online status?

Says 1/1/0001 on website. On phone it says "in testing" as of 8:15pm EST 8/28/07.

 

If it's in testing, you should expect to have it shipped within the next 2-4 business days, so definitely by the end of the week...

 

I ordered mine the 25th and it shipped today.

 

I think yours shipped very early because the processor and other items in your config are hardly ordered by many ppl and so there would not have been a backorder necessary for building ur laptop

 

holy hell thats fast.. the vostros are MUCH FASTER to ship than the inspirons are.. usually no more than 10 days to you from my experience three times

 

i ordered my vostro 1400 on the 22nd of august and its still in the build stage -___-

 

I ordered mine on 8/21

Its more or less a very very basic config. It only has a webcam, standard true life screen and 8400 gs added to it. There's no addition software and hardware. I took out as much as I could including the anti-virus.

Right now Estimated ship date is 9/5 and its currently still in production

 

I would not expect it to ship later than your expected ship date. If anything maybe even earlier.

I ordered mine 8/23 and expected ship date was 8/31.

It shipped 8/27

 

No wonder yours is taking so long. You went to the future and ordered it. Obviously, Dell does have their Flux capacitors yet and has failed to produce 1.21 Jigowatts of power.

Word of mouth is they're using all the heat from their stocked up Prescott inventory to obtain the 1.21 Jigowatts of power.

I'd give it another week before I call and complain.

 

What kind of specs allows the computer to be shipped in a week?

Long time lurker (while I decided which laptop to order!) but took the plunge today and have ordered a Vostro 1500.

My dates don't make pleasant reading though

No particular rush (other than my office being turned into a nursery for new baby, hence the need for a more mobile workstation!). Hope it doesn't slip past the end of September...

 

Well, if you ordered today, and it shows an estimated delivery date, that's good. Mine still says 1/1/0001. Makes me nervous. I will call today and see what's up with that.

 

htwingnut - That's pretty much exactly the same spec as I went for (I opted for the wireless-N card and bluetooth also). 01/01/0001 definately sounds like an error somewhere. Good to see yours is "In Production" though. Definately give them a call...

 

Mine now says Expected ship date 5 September 2007. Woo hoo! I'm just surprised it isn't quicker.
