Keeping in mind I'm ordering from Dell Canada, and not getting as good a deal or coupons as those in the US, I -think- I got an OK deal on this. After I configured and saved it yesterday in 'my cart', I went on today to try and configure it from a few different start points, etc., and I couldn't even come close to the price I got below, weird. Anyway:

ANything I should have done different??
-
your battery life may be poor and i would have taken vista buisness other wise it looks great!
-
the machine looks good, but the CPU and battery....
General consensus is to go with the 2Ghz 4mb t7300, best bang for your buck
And as mentiond, battery life will be short with the 6cell. -
his processor is more than fine...
-
Thanks for the replies. I decided to go for the smaller battery so it wouldn't stick out the back. I usually have my laptop plugged in anyway.
What would I gain from upgrading to vista business?? -
well the laptop would run faster especially with that graphics card. what it does it put the whole graphical interface (everythign you see on your screen) dedicated to the processing power of the graphics card - instead of the cpu.
also, it looks much better because it allows aero to run-which your graphics card will do a nice job at, it also has other features like autobackups, remote desktop, file encription and more -
What kind of tasks will you be doing on this notebook and will you be carrying around/traveling with this notebook?

at first i tried the coupon but whenever i added it it never worked..can you confirm if it worked for you? you think ic an call my sales guy and ask him to give me a credit of $50 bux..cuz thats a crock of crap if it worked for you and didnt' work for me!
-
Yes, it worked for me. But only after I started a fresh build (maybe clear your cookies and/or log out of your dell account if you are logged in).
I think it is supposed to be good until Aug. 23rd. -
Well, original estimated delivery date was around the 28th. Just called Dell (since their online order tracking has never worked for me...), and apparently my laptop now has a 17 day delay on it due to a network adapter.....
-
Well, called dell for an update today, and was told that my laptop was now delayed until the end of September!!
CANCELLED!
I'll make due with my current Inspiron 8600... -
doh that sucks i actually just got my vostro today! beautiful..who cares about the network adapater
-
Maybe it was because I ordered the "N" wireless card?? I have no idea. I'm not in a huge rush, so I'll wait a month or two, then have another look. Maybe there will be some better deals, or better hardware for the money, at that time.
How do you like yours? -
The N card might be why... I just went for a g-adapter because nothing uses N right now and I probably won't be switching to N anytime soon (even though moving files over the wireless is painfully slow).
However, they said that I would have a delay until september due to my LCD screen... and I've been happily using it for 4 days now. -
agreed, i only have a g router..and its fine for what i use it for..i dont think there will be a point in going N unless i upgrade my damn internet first..i hate SHAW
i love the thing..still getting used to the size but it looks beautiful..but this is coming off a 4 year old Toshiba M30 -
Ordered Vostro 1700. OK deal?
