Hey guys... Newbie here. I gotta say these are the best laptop forums I've ever seen. The pictures of the 1720 that some of you guys have posted helped me A LOT.

So I had a $1464 Inspiron 1720 configured on my shopping cart... And I wanted a better deal. So I took the advice of someone here who said that if you go to the the Dell Direct stores, you can get an extra coupon from one of the sales people.

Worked perfectly. The dude gave me an extra $75 off, so my total after taxes was $1479. :D And finally, I have a replacement for my old Dell Inspiron 5150 which can't handle HD video most of the time and has a broken screen that doesn't work (I've been hooking it up to an external monitor for more than a year now, it's been hell, but I'm 23 so I guess I have a decent excuse for being somewhat broke).

Where do I get my estimated delivery date? Right now if I go into Order Status, it says I have no orders (but the order went thru without problems and I got the e-mail)... I guess I have to wait?

Anyway, onto my specs (this is so geeky but cool BTW):

    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7500 (2.2GHz/800Mhz FSB/4MB cache)
Genuine (LOL Genuine, I feel like I should get a pirated version just to not be in Microsoft's camp) Windows Vista® Home Premium Edition
    Jet Black
    2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 at 667MHz
High Resolution, glossy widescreen 17.0 inch display (1920 x 1200)
    256MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8600M GT
    160GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM)
CD / DVD writer (DVD+/-RW Drive) (double layer)
    High Definition Audio 2.0
    Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N Mini-Card
    Integrated 2.0 Megapixel Webcam
    No Productivity software pre-installed
    No Security Subscription (30-day trial)
56Whr Lithium Ion Battery (6 cell)
1Yr Ltd Warranty and Mail-In Service
    No ISP requested
    Built-in Bluetooth capability (2.0 EDR)

BTW do you guys think I got it for a good price? I've seen a lot of your specs in your siggys and even though I got an additional $75 discount on top of the $300 coupon, it still seems like I overpaid.

Still, this beats Sony, Toshiba, even HP's prices by a long shot. Only problem is there's no HDMI port - the guy told me you can get one thru the Express Card - is that true?

    :) :)

Seems like a good price to me- definitely beats the best possible configuration online using the $300 coupon by about $75.
