I ordered a E1705 because of the $650 off coupon. I was not really wanting a 17" and I really wanted to avoid Dell but to get this laptop much cheaper than what I was looking at I could'nt refuse. I do have a few questions:

I ordered the WXGA+ since I will be mostly gaming on it and would prefer higher performance over the WUXGA screen. I also wanted the matte screen since I am happy with my Dell 2005FPW 21" monitor and heard the glare might get too much if I am outside with it. I was just verifying that the WXGA is the non-glossy version?

Next I wondered if I should have gotten XP Pro instead of the Media Center it came with?

I ordered the system with 2GB of RAM since knowing Dell's quality it most likely will go back for repair or replacement so I was worried about the warranty issues. I was afraid it would void my warranty and then I would be stuck with it.

I did'nt bother with getting bluetooth since I have no real need for it. If I did have it installed with it will it slow the overall performance down since it is one more operation needing to be done? I am gaming and web browsing so I didnt want to slow it down if I could avoid it.

the WXGA+ is Matte, though I've never liked any of Dell's 15-17" WXGA+ screens. Just my opinion however.

XP Pro vs Media Center ... well its kind of a toss up really, it doesn't sound like you'll be using media center's capabilities (correct me if I'm wrong), at the same time how many people use the extra administrative functions and remote access from Win XP Pro?

RAM is definatly user upgradable and certainly wouldn't void your warrenty....

The hit from bluetooth is sorta minimal. I'm using the Widcomm stack personally but I've used the Toshiba stack too and honestly a couple of extra processes is not going to kill you.

IMO, the glossy screens are alot better. The matte screen on my 9300 is very dull and not very good. Only certain angles are good for viewing. The colors seem like they are off to me especially when I'm switching between an LCD external monitor on a desktop to my laptop. Overall the brightness doesn't seem the same as LCD's from dell.

Good example is on this site. When I'm using an external monitor at school, this page is very bright and white. When I'm using it on my laptop, areas that I know are truely white, seem an off-white.

Its really a user preference. Some users love the glossy screens and hate matte, and vice versa.
