So, I just ordered a M170. I was going for a gaming laptop. However, I ruled out the alienware m7700 because I dont want a desktop processor. A GTX hogs enough power as it is.

I would appreciate any thoughts, warnings, critiques or even outright exclamations of pleasure. Do bear in mind that I am a gamer first and foremost, and made a very careful choice in going this way. However, I am always up for more reviews/opinions.

    Config:
    Pentium M 770 2.13GHz (533 FSB)
    2GB 553 RAM
Go 7800 Ultra (However, I think they mean GTX - but that's another post)
    17 WUXGA (1,920x1,200)
    60GB 7200 rpm HDD
    2915 a/b/g Wireless
    Integrated bluetooth

first, make sure to get the lowest amount of ram possible from Dell, then buy your ram from newegg.com or somewhere else. You'll save a couple of hundred bucks that way.

Outside of that, it looks like a good system. The only question that I have is can you wait till the XPS is updated to the dual core? or do you need a laptop right this second? I think the XPS line will be upgraded by summer.

The RAM was actually on sale last week. However, the discount through our Partner purchase program more than covers the cost.

On the matter of timing, I do have a need for the laptop sooner rather than later (a lot of travel coming up). And of course, with the upgrade will come a higher cost. Still, it could all be moot. IF Dell has put a 6800 in this M170 it will be going back.
