    Hey all,

I've been lurking here for a couple weeks learning from all your vast knowledge... :D

I had ordered a xps m140 from dell:

    2ghz p-m
    80gig5400
    1gigddr2
    9cell
    dvd+-rw

but returned it because I saw that I would be able to get an e1505 with the core duo processor and a dedicated video card for less than I paid for my xps with the 750 rebate..

I hope I made the right decision.

They offered me 500 dollars back if I would only keep the m140!!

The one thing I loved about the xps was the battery life. I got over six hours with the 9 cell, athough it does stick out of the back and make the laptop a little cumbersome.

How does the e1505 do as far as battery life on the 9 cell?

also I got the x1400 ati card in my e1505...will I be able to run oblivion at medium settings?

    Thanks for any response!

I haven't really tested the battery on mine yet. It has been at home most of the time. I did take it to school one day, but I used it for like 2 mins. They forgot my power cord. So I had to share my dads cord for a while, but I didn't time it or anything.

The battery is acceptable - In my experience, with both wireless radios turned on and screen at full brightness, the battry is depleted at a rate of about 0.5%/minute. With undervolting, screen at minimum brightness, wireless radios off and doing some light work, you can squeeze an extra hour or so out of it.

    Outlets are your friend.

I havent done any formal rundown tests or anything, but on the default laptop power settings I got about 5:10hrs with a 9cell battery. This was a general combination of tasks but the majority was web. Screen was at about 1/2 brightness. My system is identical to yours except I have the 2500 2ghz cpu.

I've actually been getting (w/ max battery setting and easy use [i.e. muted, no wifi/blue tooth and word processing]) about 6 hours 10 mins per charge w/ a nine cell.

but the screen, be warned, is very dim for those results.
