    Ordered it today with the following config

    1.66GHz Core Duo 667MHz 2MB Cache
    1GB (2x512MB) Dual Channel 533MHz RAM
    15.4" 1680x1050 WSXGA Ultrabright with Truelife and Ambient Light Sensor Technology
    256MB ATI Radeon Hypermemory X1400
    60GB Sata 7200rpm
    DVD+/- RW with Dual Layer
    Dell Backpack

    what do you guys say about the configuration. I was in a real tizzy over 1.86/512MB (for future needs) or 1.66 1Gb. But finally setlled it for the latter.
    i'm somewhat apprehensive about about x1400's performance. since it 'sifts' 128 mb out of 256 from the ram. hence making it a virtual 256mb gcard.
    can people over here post their opinions/reviews about the following:
    *the notebook performance, considering a power user
    *gpu performance - and general review about the games it's able to play/not play/ play at low res
    *would 1.83 instead of 1.66 make much of a difference, considering the ram remains the same.
    and other reviews.

    You should enjoy incredible performance with that config.

    The X1400 will play anything at low res. It should even play most games at mid res, however I wouldn't crank up the settings to high res since many users have reported stuttering and slower frame rates.

    The 1.83GHz will not have a significant increase in performance over the 1.66GHz. It would only be noticeable when the CPU is under heavy usage.

    Processor= 1.66GHz Core Duo! very good performacne (better than my P-M 1.73Ghz :))

    RAM= 1GB....good/average ammount of RAM

    HardDrive=60GB 7200RPM...VERY GOOD (same as mine.......FAST)

    Graphics Card= ATI Radeon x1400....good midrange card! will be able to play anything out there (even oblivion on low!) on medium to low settings! and oldergames like FarCry on high settings

    overall---------------------8.76/10

    In Indian currency, it cost me Rs 66072 + Rs 2562 as taxes = Rs 66634 so around $1470 (inclusive of delivery but exclusive of tax)
    well the decision to buy 6400 was really a stupid one. i thought i just wont be able to switch to a 12.1" XPS M1210 screen (plus they didnt offer a backpack with XPS :p )
