I have just ordered my new M1210 from Dell Greece for 2400 $.
I think it is much more expensive here in Greece but i prefered to buy in the house so i have direct contact if something goes wrong .The offices are 2 km from home .
My configuration is as following :
    T7200
    2 GB 667 memory
    A/V package
    Invidia 7400 256 mb ,
    100 GB HD 7200 RPM
4 Years on site ( NBD ) warranty
    Small leather case ,
    2 x 65 w ac adapters
    9 cell battery
    XP PRO With media
    8x dvd-rw
    bluetooth module

They told me that i must wait 15 days ? Why so ? Maybe the laptop is coming from Usa ?
To my order i attached even a letter asking to put an AUO screen or a Samsung screen and not a Toshiba one . Who knows if i will have luck ?
What do you think about all this ?

    Best regards
    fritz40

My god if thats $2,400 USD then you paid waaaaayyy too much wow.

It probably takes 2 weeks to be made and shipped if it's a CTO model.

If that laptops not a high seller there, then they might not have very quick build times at their factory. Did they say build time 15 days, or you will get it in 15 days?

Spec is pretty good, you will be happy with the performance.

Parts are mostly made in China; the notebook is assembled and shipped from either Malaysia or China. For US market they are from Malaysia but I'm not sure about Europe.

Price differs from region to region. I think it is better to by from your own country because of warranty and support. Your price is not bad , if you configure a similar spec in DELL US you end up paying around same price.

I got mine last week with following configuration for USD $1500 from DELL Japan.

    T7200 Processor
    2GB Ram
    120GB 5400RPM HDD
    Go 7400
    DVD Writer
No A/V package (because DELL JP don't have the option  )
Samsung screen (I didn't make a special request)
    6 Cell battery
    Vista Ultimate Edition
    3Yr warranty

PhoenixFX , I have even 4 years NBD warranty a leather case and a second ac adapter . I only can say that here in Greece there is no other 12.1 laptop with such a package of features and in this price range .No other company offer more than 2 years of warranty here .

it's worth it. It'll keep you company a good 4 years or more.

Hell, my M1210 was $1750 USD with the specs listed below and 4 years complete care.

Did you get Complete Care? I only got 1 year, but if yours covers 4 years then that price is pretty good, even compared to US prices.

No it is not complete care . I am happy even so with NBD because as i said there is no other brand here in greece who gives more warranty as Dell.
My only concern after all i read in this forum is the screen type .

If it looks really bad, then you can call DELL and tell them that you dont like it and need it replaced. However wait and see how it turns out; Who knows, maybe Toshiba may have improved their screens or perhaps DELL stopped shipping with Toshiba. If m1210 is just introduced over there, then I guess you will get a good screen, cos they don't want to start off with a bad reputation, right? :p

I mean some of your local magazines will certainly review it as soon as it hit the market. If they ship with a bad screen that is not good for their business :p

^ agreed. That's my original point. You're not too far off US prices considering its more rare in your location and you have somewhat better specifications than mine.

If your screen is bothersome to you, have dell on site replace it. If they bring the toshiba again the second time, call them again.
You paid good money for a good product. Don't settle for less. But keep in mind, theres a fine line between getting your money, and just being too dang picky.

That's the beauty of having such an outstanding warranty.

I'm not quite sure how much of an affect that is going to have. I couldn't give you a positive answer.

Just find comfort in knowing you can change it if it doesn't meet your expectations.

How's Greece by the way, I'd love to visit some day.

It certainly is not a bad move ;) . Now they at least know what you want, so if they can do something about it, they might. But I'm not sure whether the sales department has any control over what brand of screen is put in to a specific order.
