    Ordered white 1720 yesterday - now in TESTING!

    I ordered a pink 1720 on 7/18, and it's still in the build stage. Yesterday, I decided to order a white 1720 with the same specs as my pink one, minus the webcam. It cost me over $200 MORE to do this, but I REALLY need this laptop. Lo and behold, my white one went into testing tonight. So if anyone is waiting for a 1720 of any other color (cept for black maybe?), white might be the way to go.

    I got free next day shipping and a $100 credit to my account b/c of the delay with my pink one. I'm going to try to get Dell to transfer the next day shipping to the white one. They oughta, considering I'm having to pay MORE for a computer that I should've already had (just like everyone else here). I can't get into chat right now b/c it says that all Dell reps are busy. That's never happened before (not to me anyway). Just wanted to update everyone b/c this info might be helpful to others who are in the same situation as I am with their 1720s. :)

    so I'm assuming you're going to cancel the flamingo pink order. testing after one day... is crazy. I guess they weren't joking about color delays.

    Yeah, I'm gonna cancel pink if I can ever get into chat. I want to go thru chat b/c I wanna try to get my next day shipping transferred to this order. I think I'll have better luck w/chat than w/the phone.

    I agree, it is crazy. I'm just so relieved b/c my current laptop (9300) is on it's last leg.

    Lets hope more jump on the "White lid" bandwagon and relieve some of the pressure on the other colours... making the rest of us happy cause we are now on our new laptops! lol

    I hope that your laptop really is in testing, and don't want to burst your bubble, but the order status is not 100% accurate.

    nikkilb, I believe you have to call up to cancel an order. From what I remember you can't modify or cancel an order in dell chat.

    Well I am PISSED. I just chatted with a csr and she informed me that there is NO WAY they could upgrade the shipping on my white 1720 to next day. She told me that orders cannot be changed (including the shipping method) once the order has been placed. I told her that was not true b/c my other order was upgraded 2 weeks after placed it. Well miraculously, she was able to all of a sudden upgrade me to next day shipping. And after thinking about it, she prolly lied thru her teeth about that.

    Next came the hassle of my $100 credit, which I've been SCREWED OUT OF. I ordered my pink 1720 using my Dell account. Dell gave me a $100 credit to my account b/c my ESD was delayed twice. So what I wanted to do was take the $100 credit OFF of my Dell account and have it put on the credit card that I used to pay for the white 1720. The csr stated over and over and over and over and over that she can't do that. And to top it off, when I cancel the pink 1720, the $100 issued to my account will be removed too. So I won't even get it. They would not give me ANY compensation at all. A$$holes.

    I told her that it's not my fault that Dell oversold products that they didn't even have on-hand. She said that ALL the colored lids were delayed. Well apparently not, since I ordered white yesterday, and it's in the testing phase tonight! And even though it's in testing, I've STILL been waiting since I placed my initial order on 7/18. And to top it all off, I'm not getting the color I really wanted, and am paying $200 MORE for it, and I'm not getting a webcam with it either!

    UGH! I'm so freaking PISSED OFF! The csr got an attitude with me, and then wanted to know if she could cancel my order. (I should note that I was not rude to her, and even told her that I don't blame her and that it's not her fault that thousands of people are delayed and frustrated). I told her not to cancel my pink order. With my luck, she'd cancel the white one. Or both. I'm not happy that I'm paying so much more for that laptop, and if I didn't need the damn thing so bad, I WOULDN'T! I'll cancel the pink one when the white one is IN MY HANDS.

    My chat was with Savitha N. I don't recommend her. If you're wanting compensation, she's NOT the csr to talk to. You'd think she was having to take money, coupons, equipment, WHATEVER out of HER pocket.

    Can ya tell I'm little ticked???

    Oh that witch said she could cancel it, but I didn't trust her. She was a real piece of work. I don't like her and don't trust her any further than I can spit, which ain't far.

    I feel you about the credit, but I believe the credit is applied directly to the laptop order and not the account... I didn't bother to move the credit from my inspiron to my vostro. In any case, my vostro moved to testing in about 22 hours or so, and boxing in 24. As for upgraded shipping, that's easy to get on any order.

    The csr I talked to said that there was no way she could upgrade shipping. "No orders can be changed once they're processed." Which is a lie. But at least I got the upgrade. Now let's see if it's really shipped for next day delivery. Ugh.

    As for the credit, I am royally ticked. Even though the white one went into testing a day after ordering it, I've still been waiting since 7/18 for a laptop that is STILL in the build stage. The white one is costing $200 more, and I didn't even get a webcam with it. I guess I'll just have to suck it up b/c I REALLY need a laptop quick. I cannot believe my 9300 has hung on as long as it has. It's just not right that Dell acts like I should be so grateful for this white one progressing so quick.

    That's a BUNCH OF BULL CRAP! I too had next day shipping on my pink order that I cancelled, the guy taking my new order for the white said he would still give me the next day shipping when I placed my order...well when it was all said and done, the invoice said 3-5 day shipping. So...I did the chat thing the next day and told the rep that I had next day on my previous order I cancelled and he set me up with next day shipping and it remarkably no is showing up that way in my account! So, go to the chat thingy and tell them you cancelled and order it had next day ship and you want that for this new order....

    It also sucks that you lost your $100 coupon, my rep that took my new order was so nice he gave me an extra 1 year warranty for my troubles.

    So with this new order, my concessions are free next day shipping and an extra 1 year on my warranty! I am now in boxing as of this morning...in only three days! Whoot!

    When I call to cancel my order, I'm going to see if I can get my $100 credit. I will NEVER use their chat again. Last night I felt like I was talking to a wall.

    I went into boxing last night right before I went to bed (about 3am). So thank God for that. Hopefully it won't get stuck in that stage for eons.

    Oh, I checked my order status, and it does say next day shipping, so we'll see if it really is shipped that way. All I can do now is hope.
