So I ordered a Dell XPS 1530 for my graduation and was wondering if teh shortages are all over. My specs are in my signature. I have read a whole lot of this forum, and seen how long some people waited. I am seriously DYING to have this god damned laptop. I spend every second thinking about it.
In the email progress bar thing, it still says my order has been acknowledged and not confirmed when I ordered yesterday at 5 or 6 o' clock CST. The thing is under my dad's name, and he'll get mad if he finds out I've been tracking it or whatever.
What is the phone number for? Do you talk to a human? Will it be recorded that I called, or is there any other way my father could find out I did so?
I really can not wait for this computer to come x_x![]()
-
The number is 1-800-433-9014
You don't have to talk to a person but you must have you're order number
I'm sure dell keeps some record of who calls and/or what order number is used...
Why would your dad be mad if you were tracking it...or whatever? -
Maybe he wants to surprise me or something =/
He got worked up because I chatted with a dell rep. about a sale that ended and I was concerned about what price we would pay.
Does anyone have an idea why my order hasn't been confirmed yet? -
It's a weekend?...
That would be my guess... -
Mmhmm, that's what I thought also until I read the thread that stated that in Malaysia they do work on the weekends.
-
Tell your dad to get a life.
-
Yup, the fact that it's the weekend might explain it, although I ordered late at night on Friday and received the confirmation email almost instantaneously and the laptop went straight into build if I remember correctly. Hopefully they are fixing all the shortage issues and you won't have to wait a month for your laptop. I doubt they keep record on the automatic status checker system (heh I've definitely called them over 100 times
).
-
But wouldn't order processing (checking payments and stuff) still be done in the US even if the actual building is done in Malaysia?
-
He obviously has a pretty great life since he's buying me a 1500 dollar graduation gift.
That would be a great thing to do though, if I was white trash.
And to the competant people who are actually here to not be a douche, this confirming stuff must be done in the U.S. I've read that a couple people's laptops came in 6 days. That would be amazing x_x
I'll go down and get my code in a minute, then I'll use my unlimited minutes to an advantage =] -
Oh just call the automated order status...
Punch in your Order Number when prompted...
And check the status... -
Automated order status number = 1-800-433-9014?
I will be calling that number till the minute my computer arrives <3 -
Yup...that's it...
And I've been calling way too much...
Still in build...
It's driving me crazy... -
Yeah, just do it in moderation. After a while it starts becoming addicting and you'll hate the lady's voice telling you your order is "currently in the BUILD stage" over and over and over again. And make sure to never write down the important information that she's about to tell you.
-
I feel for you.
I don't know what the hell I'd do if I had to wait a month x_x -
lol
It's true...
I'm addicted...
And I HATE hearing her smug little voice say "BUILD' over and over and over....
It's terrible... -
Fvck you, too, buddy.
I was saying that because why would he give a crap about you checking the status? He must have so little control in his own life that he has to make dumb demands like this? -
@Lunare - You're taking his comment way to seriously...just chill...
@mattocs - pretty much the same thing....just chill out... -
1330s fly out compared to 1530s, but thats because 1330s are for little girls in dresses and the 1530s are people who want some power.
Maybe peoples signatures give you an Idea what to expect. I ordered 5/20, and I rode dells ass EVERY day calling to check on shortages and if I should expect my ESD to change and if changing a part would get me through quicker. I never took no for an answering, challenged their anwsers and always talked to their supervisors, I wasnt going to get ****ed over by this outsourcing soul-less company. -
Well, you better get patient. At the rate they're doing things, they'll have a backlog until Christmas. Don't be too surprised to see it not arrive by the ESD. Not to let you down or anything, but they did delay my date and I ended up canceling.
-
Yeah, when his laptop was going to ship on the upcoming week more than likely. If you have the patience and maturity of a 5 year old then yes it might be a hard pill to swallow waiting for this laptop.
-
And how did you know that it was going to come this week? Is there some statistical analysis that you performed that I didn't know about? When there are a lot of people who ordered earlier in May and late April who still haven't received laptops, how can you be sure that it would come and not be pushed back for another three times? The more I thought about the M1530 and Dell as a company, the less I liked it. I have been a loyal Dell customer for 7 years now (probably more than you), and what's the problem with switching to another company? If I find that a company that has slipped into the dumps, do I continue doing business with them? I think not. If I had a technical problem, I most surely wouldn't want to speak with some Indian on the other side of the world who could care less about you as a customer.
-
Just the whole waiting, whining, then when its about to come to an end you bail on it. Look around, people get delays then they hit boxxing and ship out. You couldnt be mature enough to wait another week, Im supposed to admire you for it?
If you didnt know about the potential for delays and it made such a big deal when you did, thats it your fault for being an uninformed buyer. -
I'm sure as hell not bailing, but I might moan a bit =/
I'm hoping that after a few days I won't think about it as much. . .it'll come when it comes. I just hate the uncertainty. -
heh..
I have to be activley distracted by something more interesting to not think about it...
If my mind wonders it wonders to my lappy that won't be here for another 8 or 9 days... -
Yeah, once I get that blue cover in my head it doesn't come out.
I'm really hoping I'll get it before next week =x
I'll check my order status tomarrow while my dads at work ;D -
Oh I whined too, and I didnt even get delayed, but If I did I wouldnt of cancled right away, I would of gotten the whole story and felt the situation out and if It was going to be like 3 extra weeks then yeah I might cancel.
I did drugs and slept alot while waiting for my laptop, is honestly feels like I ordered it 2-3 days ago, and not 12. -
Interesting way to pass the time I guess lol...
-
I've slept a lot also . . .not much of a drug person.
I'm already whining and it's been a little over 24 hours. -
Lunare I dislike your config. That build should of been a Inspiron if you ask me. Shouldnt of ordered so much ram from dell either.
-
I got 4gb for mine also...
Only amount of ram allowed on the 'best' default config. -
Well it was 1100 bucks, works for me.
probably cheaper than said Inspiron xD -
You can't get the 8600 GT 256MB GDDR3 video card in an Inspiron either, so I can see Lunare's point in getting the XPS M1530.
-
Lord Egregious Notebook Evangelist
Yeah once you decide you want to do even the slightest amount of gaming your up to the XPS line. I was going to get an inspiron till I discovered the XPS. They don't do as much mass media advertising of the xps as they do for the inspirions.
-
I thought I seen a 8400m GS in the sig, I guess seeing a 1280 screen selection I instantly assume a crap build, cause it would be for me.
-
Yeah, the screen didn't matter much to me, I just want to do things fast and play games/boss with no lag or disconnecting.
Oh and great, I can't even check my order status because my order isn't confirmed yet and they havn't given me an order number >:O -
WTF It's almost noon on Monday and I'm still not confirmed x_x
-
HOORAY!
Confirmed, and I'm "In Production"
I was confirmed twice by different people o.o
