    Hello all,

After many months of debating what laptop I wanted, I have finally decided on a 1730. Unfortunately, the total came up to 3700$. So I used the Dell Financing, and I got the contract and everything looked good. That was Sept 7.

Now, DFS keeps emailing and calling asing for a scan of my SIN (Like an SSN for those in the US). I've quite uncomfortable about EMAILING a scan of such information, the fact that it's going out over seas adds to that uncomfort.

I was wondering, is this a NORMAL proceedure for Dell?

Also, I wanted to pay $1000 a month on the laptop, DFS says that I can pay $1000 a month, and the "Total Obligation" (which was over $1500 the cost of the laptop) would not have to be paid. Is this true?

Any info would be much appreciated.

    Thanks!

Princi, I'm not sure why you would be having the US contact you on your Dell purchase, well first thing, I just noticed your post was from 2008. Have you already taken care of the matter if not I could offer some help. Anyways I order many things from Dell and they have not asked for any type of SSN scan. Also when you order from Dell.ca you don't need to go through a US financing procedure. Your SSN can be used to obtain information about your credit worthiness and take it from there. As far as interest there is somewhat of a high interest on DFS so you should take that into account. I've ordered many things from Dell DFS and DFA, one thing is that they always run a credit check, soft check so take that into account if you don't want to impact your score.
