There are a few posts regarding people being able to order M1530 with 1440x900 (or higher) screens. I have had no luck doing this, the rep I spoke to on the phone said the M1530 config was locked and not adjustable. Anyone care to explain how they were able to get the rep to look past this and change the order?

    Thanks.

They are not locked, but their stock in screens above 1280 x 800 is not secure at the moment. You shouldn't experience any delays ordering that screen but if you call in and chat with a good agent you should be able to order a higher resolution screen with a delivery date unknown.

I notice you didn't get a high rez screen, so who are these connections you are referring to?

@greystone, where these people that said they ordered the higher res in the U.S.? 'cause the locations I've seen the higher res screens released are overseas in Europe and Asia.
Not everyone that posts lists their location so it could be that they are in one of these places.

yeah, 1280 x 800 in a 15" screen is great. it's like using your blind grandmother's computer or your 2 year old nephews toy "computer"

get a high res screen and join the adults.

What did you offer to the rep? What will he or she get for getting you the higher resolution display? Getting my point? ;) I can't reveal more than that in a public forum. :)

There is another simple solution: Wait for the new year!

    Happy Holidays!

Good point, though in hindsight I suspect the posts were exagerated at best.

Stop concerning yourself with what resolution others want and start getting a life.

I could've sworn I saw a WXGA+ [1440x900] option yesterday in the Dell UK site, but for some reason, it has disappeared. Oh well.

edit: lol, here it is: http://configure.euro.dell.com/dell...=N4XXPS01&l=en&oc=N12X5302&rbc=N12X5302&s=dhs

The EPP site I use to build my systems doesn't have the options up yet but I do see them on the home site. It's cool though, I've contacted my sales rep to set me up with the middle of the road screen.

Gah, they simply would not offer this to me yesterday. So now the $200 gift card is gone, I think I'll wait a few days and see what other offer come up.

Actually I reordered today and got the gift cared still. What you should do is order over the phone. They can ask a manager to get you the gift card. Be quick about it before its too late.

Good timing, I was on the phone earlier with a sale guy who knew he wasn't getting my sale without the gift card. He put me on hold a couple times, no luck. Apparently the discount card codes are gone.

Looks like there is some delay if you order the higher rez screens, so I'll probably buy one tonight. If a better deal comes along I can always cancel. But it looks like you did things the best way.
