Well i have been reading about people getting better deals by talking to a sales rep so im thinking its worth a try, Im in the UK and its bank holiday so im going to try tomorrow but have a few questions.
If i get some kind of deal no matter what would it be saved and would i be able to purchase it the following day or whatever? i know that the rep gets comission or points so would really want the sale but im just not sure if i can say "yes that a deal ill pay tomorrow".
Also are you able to play both the sales rep and customer service? Ideally i would like the 3 year warranty thrown in as i know this is the easiest discount to get, would also like free delivery which is £60! but that might be pushing it. So if say i managed to get free delivery from sales rep and he wouldnt budge any more, could i go to the customer service rep and push for extra warranty?
Does anyone have any advice of how else to handle it or what seems like more feasible discounts that they are most likely to give way on.
The system i configured costs £800 with tax and delivery its a vostro 1500, i guess the cost would be classed a medium which i know would make it harder to get anywhere.
Any help would be appreciated.

I'd push for the Warranty & Free Delivery definetley, be warned - long waiting times on the 1500!
-
Also do you think i would get away with going to the customer service rep saying the sales rep didn't tell me about the 3 weeks delay and that i need it quickly and hint towards cancelling? -
Mine went to boxing today. I ordered Saturday morning....not long at all.

Just got aof the phone with them and this is what i could get on my third attempt
Vostro 1500
2 ghz
2gb
WXGA+ LCD
backpack
2 year warranty
Vista Home premium
and Bluetooth thingy
all for £700 including delivery and VAT.
The quotes last for a day so i got the whole afternoon to improve on it, you can tell they will budge because some say they cant yet the enxt person said they can.
Do you rekon what i got is a good deal or should i push harder? i was hoping for 2 or 3 year warranty, 2.2ghz and better screen for £650 all im getting closer
One thing though on the quote it says 1 year base warranty and than another 2 year business support? that doesn't mean im paying for base and the discounted business support am i? :S -
whoop i managed to convince her to drop the bluetooth and carrying case and upgrade to 2.2ghz for the same price! in a few hours of calls saved £150+ WHOOPA!

You just have to be forceful politely, i got my frist quote for £700 and i knew he wouldnt budge any more on the price so i told him could you thro in free carry case and he agreed and sent quote. I than rang up again and gave the quote number to another women and ask if she could beat it and said no, than asked if you could take the case of taking £25 of the pricethan i asked for 0.2 ghz upgrade processor which she agreed to at £720, i asked her to get it down to £700 she 'asked the manager' and got £712.03 i insisted that i would buy if it was for £700 and she than came back with £701.56 i was just being cheeky and pushed for the final £1.56 and it worked. So happy
I may even push abit harder but im scared ill jynx it, she did say i would get it quicker within 2 weeks instead of the 4 becuase she would give it a 'prioity' order which is most likely a load of bollocks.
But honestly people just ask and they will give you something.
Ordering over the phone.
