I had an interesting talk with Dell today regarding their outlet...I called to get shipping charges on a refurb and since they are only an online product, I got a regular salesman instead (he scoffed at the word salesman, said he was a consultant) ....he instantly steered me away from the outlet trying to sell me a new machine...he said people were unhappy with the refurbs....and the main reason was once someone bought it, they put their personal "thumb print" on it and the new owner had a hard time cleaning off the machine.....he also said some didn't like the anti-virus that was on it and it screwed things up....anyway, it didn't sound kosher to me...I would think a refurb would be wiped clean and you would start new....he then asked me my system price...it wan an xps140 (1.86, 1gig ram, 80 g HD, bluetooth/wireless and truelife) for 1309 minus the 300 outlet promotion....so it came to 1009. He spent 10 minutes crunching the numbers and came up with 1052...not bad really for a new machine with the same specs....1144 with tax, no shipping....seems like you can work the outlet against the sales folk if you are looking for a new machine at an even better price...248 bucks cheaper and still new.....interesting...

1009 seems awfully high for those specs on the outlet. I've seen machines like that run for $849ish plus tax and shipping with similar specs. I tried to get Dell sales to match it, but they absolutely won't...
I guess it all depends on exactly what you want. -
I just ordered my M140 (1.86, 512 ram, 80gig hd, 2200 wireless, 9 cell) from the outlet today for $669.99 plus tax and shipping ($730 total). I would search around a little more on the outlet till you find a better deal. Just keep hitting refresh since they change literally by the minute.

Excellent...I will keep looking...by the way, did you get true bright screen and how important is that anyway?
-
I didn't get the Truelife screen, I don't like the reflections. Just make sure that as soon as you find one you like you put it in your cart, because the good deals dont last long (5 minutes tops usually).

Will do...I guess 512 ram would do me fine...and I didn't know about the reflection problem so I will take one without it....if it has the 6 cell battery I might take that and just get a spare down the road....
Outlet vs new...good info....
