Ok so I do not want to have another unit fail as my last order from the outlet did; my previous unit was refurb, but I was considering going the "previously ordered" route-- what is the difference?

That's basically it. A previously ordered new system is pretty much what it says: somebody ordered it, and canceled the order after it was built. Pretty much brand new.

I've purchased all 3, Previously Ordered New, Refurbished, & Scratch & Dent. I can hardly find any scratches or marks on the "scratch & dent" ones. I usually just ignore what its "status" is and focus on the specs I want and price because I've never ended up with any problems nomatter which I order.

refurbish used to mean they actually went back and did a ton of inspections and reinstalled the OS and ran tests to make sure everything was on the up and up.. not sure they still do that anymore however..

my friends have always had good experiences with the refurbish route. sorry your experience wasn't a good one.
