I have been searching around and I really have not found anything on this subject. Obviously Dell does not cater to overclockers like Asus and others so overclocking via my BIOS is not an option. Are there any third party utilities that will allow me to get 100 or more MHz more out of my T2400 1.83GHz core duo? I plan to overclock the CPU and graphics only for playing games then put them back to normal for on the road stuff. Any help is greatly appreciated.![]()

checkout notebookforums.com and you can find just about everything you need to and more than you want to know....

Thanks for the link, tons of info there.
I must be stupid, but I do not see a way to search that forum????
There must be a way to overclock my Core Duo processor, hopefully anyway -
If it is just 100mhz for the CPU then just dont do it. Dells are not meant to be OCed and using software to OC is a very dumb thing to do. Software is much less reliable than OCing through the bios. As for graphics it depends on what GPU you have. For nvidia download the latest forceware set and coolbits. For ati use rivatuner. There are other options also btw.
Also if you cant find the search button (which i think is quite incredible since there is two) then just use your browser to search the this page for "search". -
LOL, somehow the search was not on the top bar when I first registered, it is there now. I am familiar with this forum software, no need to dumb it down for me. The workaround I used was google to search the notebookforums.com domain
As far as overclocking the CPU, I agree now that I have overclocked my ATI X1400 using Powerstrip 3.63 build 540 (from stock 430/396 to 460/445) and my FPS are satisfactory at decent settings. I am going to see what it can do once I find a monitor for the GPU temperatures.
But why would using software to overclock the CPU be bad? I am just curious. If I am doing mild overclocking the chances of errors are minimal I assume, but doing extreme overclocking I assume there would be file corruption problems and a possible reinstall of windows if something went wrong. I am just looking for some insight on the issue, thanks for the reply. -
Check out our gaming forum. That is where majority of the overclocking articles are. There isn't anything specific for dell because overclocking is not supported by Dell and therefore voids your warranty.

Thanks for the info, I have got the overclocking of the ATI X1400 down and now I am testing. I would like to overclock the processor if possible, warranty means nothing to me as I am a Dell reseller and I can get a new one if something goes wrong although i do not plan on doing extreme overclocking of the CPU and ruining it. I will check out the fourm and see my options on CPU overclocking, thanks again! -

Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
overclocking anything in a notebook is a bad idea, the last thing you want to do do to a notebook is generate more heat, in fact you'll find many more threads about underclocking than overclocking, I overclock my desktops like theres no tomorrow, but I dont even think about doing that to my notebook, if you want a faster cpu, buy a faster cpu

Your CPU is fast enough already, no need to OC it. Software is riskier since it is less reliable. Who knows what happens if something screws up for the system hangs? Risk is probably small however the gain is not worh the tradeoff.
