How can I overclock my Dell E1705?

    Specs:
    Core Duo T2300 @ 1.66ghz
    512mb 667mhz RAM
    50 GB Hard drive
    Windows XP Media center edition.

Also, my speakers don't work and right now I'm installing new drivers!

SetFSB FTW! It should work I think.
Google is your friend if you don't know where to get it.

You cannot overclock the E1705 with any third party FSB/Clock generator editor. The PLL is not supported.

What you can do is get a faster processor. Your core duo is about 30% slower per MHz clock than a core 2 duo processor.
    So a T5200, T5300, T5500, T5600, T7200, T7400, T7600 will all be good processor upgrades.

Upgrading to a faster processor means your system will get hotter. It is a good idea to download and install I8KFANGUI. It is a program which controls the fan speed of your system. It is a free program and works great on the E1705

I'd say that the difference in heat output between the T2300 and the T7600 shouldn't be very big. They're both 35W processors fabricated on a 65nm process, though the T7 and T5 series might have somewhat better power management features.

If heat does become a problem, I'd look at undervolting before messing with i8kfangui, but i8kfangui does work on the E1705 and other Dell laptops of the same age.
