Whatever I do it doesn't want to overclock. I've tried with AtiTool, nTune and RivaTuner - the frequencies go back to default.

When running the Tune System in nTune it says: Tuning can only be performed on NVIDIA nForce2 or later based system.

My drivers' version is 163.44 from http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/drivers

Should I get different drivers to try with or what?
    Where is the problem.

    Thank you.

Try different drivers some won't allow you to overlock, I think the 160's series won't. 150's should but I think a few of those won't allow you to as well.

Correct. You can however OC with the 163.44 (or any other drivers) if you go the BIOS route. See this thread:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=160237

Worked for me - 163.44 drivers at 590/470 got me just over 4000 in 3d06.

I have read the entire thread, but I'm not doing it :D I'll just oc it peacefully from the OS :) But still you can't overclock with 163.33 from the OS, can you?

No, not without the BIOS. Thats why I did it...No one can overclock with the 160 series with just software.

By the way, to clarify one point. I used the 158.45 drivers to overclock in software to find a stable point before I did the BIOS overclock, and then upgraded to the 163.44 drivers

Can you overclock it from Windows at all?

    Now I get it :)
Btw in your opinion why BIOS overclocking is better? I mean you set the frequencies and that's it - you can't change them afterwards without flashing again.

I want to oc from Windows, because that will give me the advantage of getting a boost only when I need it (gaming) and set it back at stock when I don't play games.

Ah, I see your confusion. When you go to edit the bios to change the clock speeds, you can change three sets of clock speeds:

    3D Performance
    Low Power 3D
    2D

You don't change the low power 3D or 2D. You only change the 3D Performance. This way, if you're not playing a game, you have not changed the stock speeds. If you're playing a game under battery power, same thing.

    Make more sense now?

By the way, Vista's Aero interface does not trigger the 3D Performance mode, either.

    I missed that part.

So first I install 150 drivers, check the best OC I can get under Windows, flash with these frequencies and then put the newest driver, right?

And one more question - Will all drivers behave the same with these new frequencies flashed into the BIOS?

    I mainly use XP.

Will overclocking the card void any warranty?

Complete care won't cover overclocking. It must fail from normal use or an accidental drop. You will not be covered if you intentionally destroy the machine.
