I've had this issue too. Making a new power plan seems to have stopped it occurring again. Never looked into the error logs though to see what might have been causing it. I have been running the new power plan for 2 days and it hasn't happened since.
Odd point on the power plans by the way. I made one the same day I got the laptop, changed it a few times and at one point it just started to ignore all my changes. Hence I had to make a completely new plan.

    So you're suprised a € 2.629 laptop is better than a € 949 laptop (comparing the 15" model with the 15" model)
I'll be frank with you, I'm surprised the rMBP doesn't have WAY better specs for that money.

Well, I'm talking more about the intel processors that are used in both machine (i7 in 7537 and i5 in the small 13 rMP). Of course, the rMPR is always way more expensive. The only model that can be compared head-to-toe with the 15in rMPR is either XPS 15 Haswell or M3800. I'm stupid but not an idiot (or maybe I am:hi2 :), you see.

I wasn't insinuating that you were, it's just not a fair comparison by any means. Like you said, the rMBP should be compared with the XPS 15, specs/price wise

Ok, this is weird. I already had the latest driver revision, which is the 10.18.10.3316 (the one on the Intel website). By going back to the 10.18.10.3304 (the one on the Dell website) the problem has disappeared. So the guilty part here is the latest driver revision by Intel, which was probably installed automatically by Windows Update!
Can you please confirm me which driver revision you have? Thank you.

This was my experience as well on the 7537-4340SLV. The problem was fixed by using the Dell provided driver update, not the Intel one. I had the latest driver loaded from Intel's site and still have the problem. Installed the Dell update, which reverted to an earlier version number (but still newer that the one hat came on the laptop), and the problem has disappeared.

But I never upgraded from the Intel website, I guess the update came from Windows Update, so everyone: be careful with what you update, exclude the Intel update for the moment.

There's also a user on one of these forums who posted battlefield 4 results, and the user seemed to be netting great playability at medium 1080p but I forget where that user posted those tests. I think it may have been Akvavit who posted them tho

I know it has been asked a few times and is confirmed in the 14 inch but anyone hooked up an msata drive?

I can get a good discount on this machine but I really only want a machine with the dual drive (msata and HDD) capability.

speaking of SSD, I would love to know what software the people who did it in this forum used? And also if it is possible to clone both partitions (including the recovery one)?

    Thanks!

I just installed win 8.1 on my Dell 7000 and haven't encounterd any major driver issues. Is there a way to check all the driver for updates ? Or do I have to do it manually ?

Acronis TrueImage. Seemingly it cloned everything. But I also used Partition Assistant and another partition tool so I didn't take up more space than I needed to on the SSD.

On another note. I am still having that issue that when the 7537 screen turns off occasionally it won't resume. This is not resuming from Sleep though as I have told it not to Sleep. In theory I'm using the nvidia drivers, so could I disable the Intel 4400 under the Display in Device Manager and see if that solves the issue. Just don't want to disable it and then find out I can't see anything!

What is the average battery life for this model? The reviewer on laptop mag said up to 9 hrs but i doubt it. Also, is the screen on the 14in better than the 15in?

You need to install the older drivers on the Dell website. Read some earlier posts.

About the SSD, I used the Samsung Data Migration. Yesterday I tried to reboot Windows in advance mode to change some security settings, at it completely lost the boot partition. Since I can't boot now, I am going to try to recover from a recovery disk made on another PC.

I have the i7 model with 8gig of ram and the fullhd display. I've also update the disk to an Samsung 840 EVO(stunning product). I didn't run any sort of test to measure battery life, so please do not focus on these data too much. BatteryBar shows me and extimated battery life of 11-12 hours in light usage (wifi on, reading pdf, casual web browsing), Windows 8 battery report extimates 9 and half of battery life. So i think that 9 hours are realistic.

I just found out that somehow the lack of a recovery partition led to the complete destruction of the unique partition, where Windows 8.1 was installed on. To everyone who migrated with Samsung Data Migration: be very careful about what you do. Never reboot into advanced mode and if you do, be prepared to suffer.

    Reinstalling everything now...

Thanks MacGyver88 for the heads-up about Samsung Data Migration: did you not have the possibilty to chose BOTH partitions to be cloned? By the way how do you reinstall without any cd reader, did you make a recovery USB key?
@merlo94: how did you clone your HDD to your EVO SSD? Did u manage to have both partitions including the recovery one? Any advice for the beginners?

    Cheers

Older drivers? You sure? I've got the latest "Intel HD Grapihcs Family" drivers, newer than the ones on the Dell site, they are on .3304, whereas I'm on .3316

No, I didn't have that possibility. Did you? What did you use again?
By the way, I tried a live Ubuntu distro and it confirmed me that somehow all of the partitions (if there were any) were completely wiped out, my SSD was just one block on unallocated space. So ?
I am going to install with a simple ISO, as I am a Dreamspark student user and am entitled to an original copy.

Yes, you need to install the previous drivers, the .3304, as the culprit is the .3316.

mSATA + HDD on 15 inch model?

errr... apologies for raking up this issue again. Due to high speed + large storage requirements I need mSATA + HDD option. I need to upgrade from my old XPS15 502X (1TB HDD in caddy + 512 GB SSD). Only thing preventing me from pulling the plug is the lack of confirmation on the mSATA port availability on the 15 inch model.

    Thanks!

If you look at the review on notebookcheck.net -- here's the URL :

Review Dell Inspiron 15-7537 Notebook - NotebookCheck.net Reviews

you can see some inside photos.

I have removed the bottom plastic cover on my 7537-4340SLV and there are only spots to install two memory cars (mine has a 4GB in each, but I believe you can put up to 8GB in each) and a slot for the WLAN card (7260 installed). I don't see any other slots and I did not disassemble mine any further. There have been some reports on other messages, that if you disassemble further there is a USB card close to the keyboard, with an mSATA slot (unoccupied), but from all I've seen no one knows whether the BIOS will see it if you install an mSATA card.

While I would like to install a mSATA in the short term, I've decided my priority is to replace the 1TB 5400RPM HDD with a 1TB Samsung 840 evo SSD.

Probably best to ask Dell, since unless the BIOS supports it, plugging an mSATA card in won't do any good.

    Regards

Does the SSD boost the battery life or is 9 hrs normal to all version? And what is the process that you went through with this? I'm waiting for the black friday deal to get one too even though it's about $330 for 500Gb now

That's what we're asking. It had been confirmed there is an msata available but no one has installed one to test it yet. Dell reps depend on who you talk to. Some say yes, some say no.

Only way to definitively find out is if someone installs one in their machine. Still wondering if anyone is willing to try.

There was a guy who installed an msata hdd into an 7437 14 inch unit and he has uploaded pics in the 7000/7437 post. My question is can this unit support a windows 7 install and if so where do I get the drivers to support this OS? If anyone has done a dual boot with windows 7 please help. Thanks.

i don't know how battery life has benefit from the SSD upgrade, however i strongly reccomend you to do

That's what I am trying to achieve here. :)
So did the SSD fit perfectly to the slot or did you have to buy something else? What about the screws? Also where did you get the iso for Win 8? And after you did a clean install, you just download all drivers from Dell? Thanks again.

Oh yes, the SSD fits perfectly and you don't need to worry about it. I could benefit from my college the win 8 iso, but i think you could fine one on the net. After i just downloaded alla the drivers from dell and Intel.

I have the same problem, but it seems to only do it when I pick the laptop. Sometimes it goes on straight after and sometimes it doesn't. Really weird.

We solved it by going back to the Intel video card drivers on the Dell page. Download the 3304 revision, when it asks to replace newest driver, say yes.

I followed your posts on the HP Envy 15t-j100 - I'm curious to hear you thoughts comparing the two. I almost pulled the trigger on the HP, but when I saw the display on the Dell, I hesitated, even though the HP is more powerful for the money.

The screen is absolutely beautiful. It is so much more vivid and saturate than anything I've seen. In the store it's not that impressive but when you turn it on at home, it just screamssss quality. Better than I expected.
Anywhoo, the brightness buttons are not working i think because of the Fn button. Does anyone know what's going on and how to fix that? Also, the battery indicator is being crazy.

    Hi Guys,

I received my Inspiron 7537 1080 3 weeks ago. Everything works perfectly except the static noise after connecting headphones. Tried different headphones, latest drivers nothing worked. Dell has sent an engineer to look at the problem. He replaced entire motherboard but the noise is still there. I tried Bluetooth headphones and external sound card but this hissing noise is always there in the background. Dell gave up as well and agreed full refund. I really like this laptop and think its great value for money. I am thinking about getting another one after refund but not sure if this static noise is present in all models or was this only one off.
I know that many people never use headphones with their laptops so they wouldn't know if this problem exists or not.
Would be great to get some feedback from other owners.
    Many Thanks

So the dell engineer came out and replaced the 1080 display on my 7537, all good on that front, no weird pixel issues on the new display.

Did anyone manage to resolve the problem in windows 8.1 with the laptop never waking from sleep?

I have a similar issue, but it doesn't seem to be emitting the static noise all the time (or I just don't notice it), I thought I'd just live with it as id heard that a new motherboard might just have the same issues. I'm looking to get a good pair of USB headphones anyway to bypass this.

I am having a few issues with the model. Hope someone can help me before I go back and read every single page again.
    1. How can I increase the internet speed on this model? I am right next to the router and it's as fast as other devices but in my room it is so slow. I do have the latest drivers updated but disable bluetooth.
    2. Texts in some problem are a bit fuzzy. Is there a way to fix it?
    3. what are your settings to get the maximum battery life besides brightness? Also what are your habitats of using the battery? Do you constantly keep it between 20 to 80%? Should I use it all up and then leave it charge for 8 hrs on the first time. I mean the battery life right now is superb compared to anything I've ever had (around 7hrs easily but some reviews say it can get up to 9hrs I also disable touch screen)
    4. It is so hard to open the back cover. I can't remove the 2 screws in the front. How did you do it? I already ordered a 500 Gb Samsung SSD and will put it in this beauty. Thanks again everyone. This laptop might be the best that I can ever come up with.
    5. In device manager, it says intel Display auto cannot start. what is this for and do I need it on?

Re:1 :did you try to update the wifi divers as described before in this forum? I hope this is not related to the (already described) low wifi sensitivity issues. How far is your room? How low in the transfer rate then? Maybe the owners in this forum can tell if they have the same issue?

I don't know if you have the same problem: synaptics touchpad enchancements use to load a lot of cpu usage when i press the touchpad, about 3-4 %. This with the newest dell drivers....so i downgraded to the general synaptics drivers and the issue gone, now it uses only 0,3-0,4 %! I want to know yours feedbacks

Update on my issues: I adjusted the scaling manual and everything look just sharp and clear. I also reinstall the one network driver from dell website and wifi speed has improved a lot (acceptable, not a prob but now stellar). Usually I'll get around 30mb/s but in my room which is upstairs and about 20 feet away, I get around 15-20mb. Now only if someone can enlighten me about the battery and that back cover issue, I'd be grateful. And boy, did I say this thing is just DELICIOUSLY GORGEOUS.
