    Hi folks,

I'm looking for a solution to get an extra DVI port out of my D620. I see that the D/Dock has a PCI slot, has anybody tried putting a video card into it? Does it work well for regular, everyday Windows tasks?

    Hi,

I use the docking expansion station. unfortunatly i don't have a card installed. But i use both analog and DVI connector in the back of the docking to drive 2 LCD 19" just like i used to do with my desktop. and the second monitor act has extend. Each lcd runs at 1280x1024 and i'm one happy dude that i can do that. And in all honesty i don't see a difference between the analog lcd and the dvi one.

Sorry i could'nt directly answer your question

Do you mean a PCMCIA slot? There's the VillageTronic VTBook if you want a PCMCIA video card (note, this is not for any sort of 3D/games, for hooking up an external monitor only):

    I'd also consider Matrox's DualHead2Go or TripleHead2Go.

No, Dell d/dock has a low profile pci expansion slot. It's not PCMCIA.
I believe it's the only docking station with pci card expansion slot.

Right, I actually have the VTBook in my T30, but it is too sluggish for my tastes (even in 2D). I was hoping a PCI video card would be faster than the VTBook.

I know for a fact the VGA output from other Dells (D610, M70) is not clean enough to drive their 20" 2001FP 1600x1200 screen nicely, which is why I'm looking for another DVI port.
There are 2 problems with these: 1) they can't drive two 1600x1200 screens, 2) they are VGA

I might try it out, but I just discovered yesterday that the VGA-out of the D620 is CRYSTAL clear on the 2001FP flat panel, so no need for an extra PCI card. Thanks for your help!
