So I just got my new Dell e1705 lappy today.YAY! I have been playin around with it and I love it. Anyway, I dowloaded PCMark and ran it. It makes it through the XP startup fine but when it gets to the physics part when it runs the little blocks falling from the sky it appears to close out and then I get a message saying Benchmark Aborted. Why is this it's got a core 2 duo 2.0 ghz proc, 1gb memory, and 7900gs. I would think that would be able to at least get through the benchmarks without crashing...grrrr. Is it out of date drivers or is pc mark really that harsh? Thanks

PCMark sometimes does this when Windows Media Player 10 is installed on a machine...there might be other software that causes this issue as well. If you can, I would install a fresh copy of XP (get rid of bloatware) and try again.

I have the reinstlation CD but was planning on not doing it right away. And I am not very confortable doing it just so I can get PCMark to run. I have WMP10 on my pc. Is there any way around this.

So I am guessing there is nothing I can do to make PCMark run with WIndows Media Player 10 on the laptop. Whatever... I istalled and ran 3DMark and I only got a score of 3500. I heard most people with a e1705 with a 7900GS are getting more like 6,000-6,500. Whats up with that...out of date driver?

PCMark05 needs Windows Media 9 Encoder Pack + Windows Media Player 10.
You're probably mixing up 3DMark 2005 and 3DMark 2006 Scores.
But thats only numbers. Nothing interesting. -
I feel like a noob it was 05. It said somthing about the media 9 encoder pack? If I diddn't have it installed could that do it? Where do I go abouts getting windows media encoder 9? Thanks
