    I just got a used insprion 8000 with p3 1ghz, 15" UXGA and Geforce2 go 32 meg

I had first installed winxp sp2 on it and installed dells driver and then the nvidia 60.72 i think. I was able to get 2400 in 3dmark2001se. I formated and installed win2k pro but didnt like it so i went back to winxp pro sp2 but now no matter what video driver i install i get like 600 3dmarks. can someone help me. If you are using the geforce2 go what driver are u using etc. Thx

i also keep getting an error that 3dmarks window has lost its focus. can anyone help me please

I ran all the dell diagnostics, they all say all is fine. memtest says my ram is fine. im stumped

i have formated and installed 2k or xp about 6 times now. same problem. What the hell

its gotta be cpu. i just ran sandra and a p3 1ghz is supposed to get 3446 mips and 1338 mflops and mine just got 759 mpis and 294 mflops, mem bandwith is 75mbs, should be 689mb/s, I tested cpu with prime95 though and it was stable

I know when i first got the laptop a week aogo I ran these same tests and they were fine

    what do u guys think?

perhaps you switched on a cpu power saver option turned on now (either as a bios override or through the control panel).

I've seen something similar with 2 other dell laptops also. One was a problem with the battery, and the other with the AC adapter. You may want to look into those options as in both situations they had to be replaced.

ok I took both the battery and the ram out and put back in and now all is solved. The ram simm must have not been pushed in all the way and was causing some kind of a short?

Thank god its running normal now LOL
