OK. Gonna be going away for a year and going to be getting a dell laptop.
I'm looking at the XPS Gaming 1530 and the M2010. Want to stay at or below $2500

I'm slightly leaning more towards the 1530, due to the fact that I can get it fully upgraded. So far from reading on here i should get the lowest ram and replace it with crucial/better ram. Reformat and re-isntall vista to get rid of the bloatware as well. Also i see that the 1530 has a really good following here on the forums which = help if something goes wrong and a better knowledge base.

My problem is that i need it for gaming and my all around entertainment. I play games like EVE-Online, World of Warcraft, BF2142, and FEAR. I dont need to run these games at max settings, but i do need them to run well and decent looking.

The reason why im also looking at the M2010 is because of its size and how its a nice desktop replacement and seems like it coudl handle itself gaming wise, but with the config i want i think i coudl get the vista based 17 series XPS for same price with better hardware. I guess i can just plug a bigger 21+ inch monitor into the 1530 to get that bigger screen effect/desktop effect.

Any info and help is very appreciated. If i coudl get a desktop this woullnt even be an issue :p .
Also - base 1730 XPS or hardware maxxed 1530???

The M2010 isnt exactly a laptop. The 1530 is a really nice laptop, but if you want to really game hardcore, get the 1730 as the other poster said.

The M1530 is more than enough for the games you listed. You can get one for ~$1300 after a coupon that will play those games just fine. No need for the big and bulky 1730.

Random advice: don't waste money by maxing the CPU. Grab a T8300 -- you won't notice much (if any) difference in games relative to the $$$ difference between it and the T9300/T9500.

Thnx for the replies. At this point its between a top end 1530 brand new or a refurbished 1730... dont knwo which one I'd be better off with though. Figure refurbished might have the kinks worked out, but i dunno. liek the bigger moniter and graphics and the refurbished one still has XP ;].

I vote for a loaded M1530 from Dell outlet and put the left over money into your savings.
