So I've had my 8600 for about 6 months now and it gets uglier to me day by day. I don't mind the metallic color on the back of the screen, but the area around the keyboard and stuff is pretty heinous. Assuming I mask up everything on the keyboard and stuff, is it possible to paint the plastic around it? Has anyone ever attempted this before successfully? And if so, what kind of paint did you use and where did you buy it from? Thanks

Somewhere in Notebookforums.com someone painted a d800, and that is pretty similar to a 8600, I think that person reviewed (with pictures) the process or something like that.

    WOW...that looks sweet. [ :p]

The only problem is if you have a problem with any of the parts, Dell won't replace them [ :(].

So be careful when you do this.

That's so true. I'm also kinda wary of taking my entire laptop apart. And I had no idea it would be so time consuming. Since I need this thing for university, I guess I gotta wait until the summer before I attempt something like this.
