So I get the much lauded LPLF300 delivered to me a few days ago. I finally get around to scheduling the technician to come out and install it in my laptop.

My main benchmark for gaming right now is WOW. I run it a 1680x1050 with pretty much maxed out settings. The game runs at 60 FPS, with very little problems.

So I move the laptop to the kitchen table for the tec to work on it. After 30 minutes or so of work and BSing about WOW, the job is done. I see a random Dell charger next to the table, plug it in and boot up the laptop.

Keep in mind, between my wife and I we now own 4 Dell laptops, 2 D620s for work, an e1405 and an m1530. We have half a dozen chargers hanging off outlets scattered around the house. They all use the same charger. Except the D620 and e1405 can use a 65w transformer.

The m1530 booted up very slowly. Hmm.. maybe just discovering new hardware. I launch WOW and its very choppy. 20 FPS. I am like, "WTF did the tec just do to my baby?!?!?" The tec had already gone.

Later in the day I switch back to the normal spot for my m1530. WOW is now running smoothly again. Its the charger. The m1530 didn't complain about having a 65w transformer plugged in. It was just running very badly. Switch back to the 90w, everything is fine. Weird.

Screen is nicer. Flat, correct whites. Slightly sharper picture overall. Worth the hassle, but I would have been OK with the Samsung.

How much brighter is it compared to the Samsung?

I would say relatively the same brightness. Just a slightly clearer image overall and solid whites.

Honestly I haven't looked into it yet. I think the laptop is designed for a 90w transformer. I am going to assume that running it on something less is only going to cause problems.
