Sooo.. I ordered my laptop (1720) on sunday. During the night I got an email of order acknowledgement, and that I should look out for another email. Its been 5 days now, and I have yet to receive an email. On order tracking site, where I used my email and internet receipt number, it says that my laptop is |Your order is being custom-built to your requirements at our factory.| (for 5 days now). When I checked my account, my current balance is the old one, but the avaliable one has the laptop price deducted.

Does it mean that everything is fine, or should I authorise it or something? Its my first bank account, I'm not really used to buying something expensive with card.

    Thanks in advance

    Where did you buy it?

I thik the best way to know would be the call your bank/company.

I don't know much about that but it seems like the payment has been authorised & deducted but still isn't transfered. It's to make sure the cash is available & easier refund if canceled, I guess

I'd call Dell and check. Once that happened to me, and I had entered my phone number wrong on the order. Dell had called me because something was wrong with the order and had placed my order on hold, but I missed the call of course.

Well, I went to bank like 2 days ago or so, and I was told that my money is "frozen". Its not transferred yet, but I cant use it. I think its fine, but I`ll call dell to make sure.

EDIT: Hmm.. thats weird. Now I have my money back, does it mean that Dell cancelled the order or did they just leave the money till I get the laptop?

Also, does anyone know if I can check my order status using internet receipt code? If yes, which numbers should I use? Its like, GB1234-5678-90123 (not the actual number, obviously)

I'm not talking about checking the order status on website, I want to check it by phoning Dell :/ When I tried the automated response was to provide 5-digit number or a 9-digit one, when the one I have is 13 digit or so :s

that would be on the order confirmation (second email) which you only receive once the money has been cleared. Ring dell and speak to an advisor because it seems like your order is stuck on phase one (order placed).

Usually the way it works is initially when the order is placed they check your card making sure you have available funds by putting a freeze on funds. Of this clears, they know the card can be trusted so they unfreeze the money. Then, once the order is actually done and shipped to you, they actually charge your card.
