Have any of you guys had problems with the microsatin finish peeling? I was just reading the review of the 1720 and they mention that their unit had problems: http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=3904

I will go CrAzY if my notebook starts peeling! I've been waiting for weeks because of the color.

Supposedly that's the cause of all the delays...quality control and ensuring the paint jobs are "up to standard"...

so far i know of 3 people locally who's microsatin is doing the same thing. dell is sending out replacements for all three of them.. the blue one i saw WAS REALLY BAD... it rubbed off simply with a finger like i said really bad.. the reason i stayed with either black or white..

I wonder how long past your order date Dell will continue to send out replacements?? I don't want this to start happening a couple of weeks from now and then I'm stuck with it.

For what it is worth, I haven't noticed any issues with my Midnight Blue 1420 that I have had for several weeks...

Unfortunately the white doesn't seem to be completely safe either.

But at least it didn't rub off on his finger.

the color didnt rub off.. the coating kinda rolled off it did take a bit of rubbing btw but it did come off.. it was a black color under the blue.. and it was around the front corners and the top sharp edges.. the large flat areas were okay..
people they had the same type of issues with the coatings.. again i only saw one of them but i can def say it was peeling. he did call dell and they are sending him a new unit.

and yeah that white one was nasty and i didnt see that one till this afternoon when he came into work, thats one of my employee's that had the white one ... but there have been a bunch of people who got white and it was fine.. so im sure this was prob a isolated case.. at least i hope so i can say other than the finish issues i LOVE THE WHITE one...

you have a one year or longer warranty.. worst case im sure they will send out the new lid and have it swapped out even after the 30 days
