I'm just waiting for Penryn to be an available option on the 1530 before placing my order, and the wait is getting pretty frustrating.
Does anyone have any information as to when Penryn will be available for the 1530?![]()

I heard from Anandtech, or rather read on the site that Dell will start offering it in February. The CPUs are ready to go, Intel is making them already, I think just set a release date for beginning of Feb. Clock speeds will be the same however (up to 2.6ghz), but with 6mb cache now. Go to anandtech.com, the article is on the front page.

i think sager just started putting them in their laptops either today or yesterday... so hopefully very soon

I would not hold my breath. They don't even offer GigE on the 1530 yet which blows my mind. Ignorant.

i think im waiting to see if things stabilize with all these complaints of poor quality control...or is this usual for dell?
-
I dout they will begin offering it in Feb.

Dell is usually pretty quick with these kind of things, aren't they? Didn't they have Pentium M's and Core 2s within a week or so of Intel release?

The main problems I've seen are grainy screens, and problems waking from hibernation.

Gah, wish mine was penryn, I guess if you get one with penryn 4 months later a new chipset will come out.
-
yep... and a few months after that chipset Nehalem will be out... and so on.

It can not be to far... SVTSnake found a (Product) Red XPS 1530 with Penryn available.
