i was windering about something i have a dell latitude d810 running on a intel pentium m 2.26 and a friend of mine has a dell e1505 running at 1.66ghz core duo which is better or faster?

Looking ONLY at the CPU, the Pentium-M will be a fair amount faster for single-threaded tasks while the Core Duo will be substantially faster for multithreaded tasks.
Most of what you do these days with computers is essentially just single-threaded. That said, dual-core CPUs seem 'snappier' as many small operating system tasks can run on the second CPU. There are some tasks, though, where the second core will really come in to play. I do a lot of compiling in Linux, for example, and a second core nets me almost a 100% speedup. -
You should run super pi on both systems and compare your results.

CPU is only part of a notebooks overall performance equation.

to add to what ZaZ said, the CPU is a actually small part of the overall performance.
try this: enable task manager or run some type of monitoring software like samurize or rm clock or something. then go about your normal computing. take note of how often you actually get the cpu up to 100% AND how long it stays there. you will notice that even if you get your cpu up to 100% in normal computing, it never stays there for more than a second or so.
the only time the cpu will give you a noticeable improvement is when you are performing a cpu intensive task; for example, virus scanning or rendering a video file for 100 hours. this would max your cpu out for 100 hours. if you have a cpu that is 25% faster, then you can reduce your 100 hour render time by 25%; i.e, it's now 75 hours.
however, when you only peg your cpu for a half second or 1 second, there is no speed advantage (technically, there is but it's so infinitesimal that a human user will not notice the difference). -
Is super pi multi-threaded? Cause if it's not the 1.6 core duo kills the 2.26 pentium M in every aspect (Single and multithreaded programs)

wow now i feel shameful about my Pentium M =)

yea but somehow ur video card still beats mine on CPU-Z, tho i beat ya in everything else *giggles*
