I'm not sure if this should go in the DELL section of Gaming.

But anyway ive been doing some tests (since i took delivery of my M1730) and playing some various games. I tried UT3 on my "old" PC and on the M1730.

I was surprised to find that my old system seems to do a much better job. On HIGH (5) @ 1680x1050 the old system runs the game without a hic-up. Yet ive seen slow down at the same settings on the XPS, under SLI (AF1).

I don't have exact numbers, but there is definatly something strange going on.

    (OLD PC)
    Athlon X2 3800+ (2.0Ghz)
    2GB DDR400
Radeon X1900 XTX (512MB) Single Card
    Vista Ultimate

    (XPS M1730)
    Intel T7500 (2.2Ghz)
    2GB DDR2
    GeForece 8700 GT (SLI) (2x256MB)
    Vista Premium

I have a few thoughts on this....

    1. 512MB vs 256MB.. Perhaps in this case the texture size is the cause?
    2. Immature Drivers on the M1730. We have heard that a lot...
    3. DX10? Maybe there is something there, the game looks just as good on both systems however nothing noticable.
    4. My laptop is just a lemon (which i know its going back but it was related to poor HDD performance and hard-locks ect.... graphics benchmarks should still be valid, in 3DMark06 it pulls over 7900 marks) and this is a result of that.

    Some thoughts?
