I am notebook user with a Dell Inspiron 1720 (ich8m) and have a sata mtron SSD (16gb) running.

The SSD will not exceed the 84 MB/s read speed in normal mode but in safemode the SSD reaches 98 MB/s or more. I am now running XP but this problem is also in Vista.
On my old desktop with a nfore 4 the ssd always reaches the 98 MB/s even in normal mode.
The maximum speed of the SSD is 100 MB/s.

Things i have tested so far.
    • I already followed the guide of nando04 tocheck my ich8 limitation but my notebook settings are fine (if i did the guide correct).
    • I have tested several drivers like the old and new driver from Intel. Added the drivers byussing Nlite
    • Updated my mtron Firmware
    • Installed the latest Bios version
    • Switching between AHCI en ATA in the Bios (With AHCI i get max 83 MB/s with AHCI off i will get max 77 MB/s.
    • Used several registry hacks/tips

**Measurements are done with HDtune (free)

My apologise for my english but i am from Belgium (Europe)
The person who solves my problem will get a reward of 50€ or more! ;)
Why a reward? it is cheaper then buying a new notebook ;)

    Thanks allot!!

    Greetz,

Make sure there are no programs running in the background which would be slowing down progress, Anti-virus program, indexing utilities, etc.

I have tested this several times even when i just did a clean install.
Also tested several registry hacks/tips that are used voor SSD's.

    Other possible hints?
