    Hi everyone
I have a dell inspiron 1520 and using windows 7. My laptop has been infected by a virus then after a while it acts as if the shift button is always hit.
When i try to hit button from one to nine here is the result !@#$%^&*().
i tried every possible way to turn off the sticky keys, it does show that it is turned off but it always acts like it is always hit.
Also, when i select a single file....it selects multiple files in the directory.
Furthermore, The programs get stuck in the taskbar. Also, the browser starts acting weird like when i click on a link on web page,
a new window is opened even if i have clicked the middle mouse button to open a tab(from my PS2 mouse)
When this happens i goto to system restore to restore my settings.
After restore, it works fine for sometime then repeats itself.
One thing which should be duly noted that i have repeated this system retore thing again and gain.
I have noticed one thing there. Whenever my computer starts acting strange, about the same time a
system restore point in created in the computer with the description "Windows Critical Update".
I have reinstalled windows also several times but this just cming back.
    Please Help.

I doubt that's a virus or any type of male-ware especially if you have formatted your machine. Sounds like you have a problem with your keyboard. Maybe check the BIOS but I doubt you will find anything. I would disconnect the keyboard on your laptop and connect a USB keyboard and see if it still happens. You could just have stuck Shift key.

Reformat your hard drive and reseat your memory (e.g. take the memory sticks out and put them back in). That should get rid of any trace of the virus at all whatsoever. If you still have a problem, I believe you might have to order another keyboard and since you have an Inspiron I would recommend getting the Vostro 1500 keyboard as it will make your Inspiron look a bit classier.
